Official Union Business Leave
Side Letter Agreement Effective March 23, 2016 between the City of Redlands (City) and the Redlands Police Officers
Assmciat|on (RP(]A).
The Memorandum of understanding between the City and the RPOA for the period July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2017 is
hereby amended tminclude the following:
Article 41 -Official Union Business Leave
A. Each year represented employees may contribute vacation leave hours to create a total bank of two hundred-
forty (Z4U) hourathatrepresentedemp|oyeesnnayuti|izeforOfficie] Uoiun8us|nessLeawa, suchasattemding training or
conventions. Official Union Business Leave must bepre-approved bythe Chief ofPolice.
B. In addition to any Official Union Business Leave contributed by re�resented employees pursuant to Article 41(A),
each year the City agrees to provide release time (hours from the 240 bank), for one union representative selected by
the RPOA^ inorder toattend each ofthe following events:
1\ Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC) Annual Conference;
2) PORA[Annual Symposium; and
]\ California Peace Officers' Association's (CPOA) Annual COPSWEST training conference,
RPOA may select different representatives for each of the above events.The Official Union Business Leave provided
pursuant to Article 41(B) shaU not exceed three consecutive shifts for the selected employee(s). Any nfthe events
specified above may be substituted by mutual agreement between the City and RPOA.
