Contract
1 Whereas, the City of Redlands, a municipal cor-
2 noration, is desirous of -installing traffic control sig-
3 nals at the intersection of Central Avenue and Orange Streets
4 in the City of Redlands and has, through the City Engineer,
5 advertised and received bids for such installation, and,
6 Whereas, at a regular meeting of said City Council
7 held on the first day of April, 1936, on opening and consid-
8 ering the bids submitted for such installation, Nash Elec-
9 trical Co many was awarded the contract for such work upon
10 a bid of ft147.33, tax included;

12 this 76 day of April, 1936, by and between the City
13 of Redlands , a municipal cor-ooration, as first Darty and
14 herein sorretines designated as owner, and G. B. Nash doing
15 business under zhe firm naive, style and designation of
16 Nash Electrical Company, second party, herein somet-ifies
17 designated as contractor,
18 VVITHESSETH:
19 1 . The contractor covenants and agrees with the owner,
20 in consideration of the covenants and agreements herein set
21 foTta whicb are to be treat and -oerforrned by the said owner,
22 to furnish all labor and material, a'o-oliances and narts,
23 the necessary tools, equipment and macninery to install,
24 and to install at tree intersection above named, strictly in
25 accordance with plans and specifications hereto attached
26 and by tris reference incorporated herein as a hart hereof,
27 the four traffic sin-nals sDecified and to connect the sane
28 I with Dower or feed lines and to deliver tne same over to the
29 owner co-mnlete in every res-nect and ready for operation.
30 Said work is to be com7enced within 10 days from the date
31 of this agreement and to be finished and com-oleted. within
32 33 days thereafter.
1 It is understood and agreed that in compliance with regulations
2 of the Motor Vehicle Department of the State of California
3 the controlling signal at each intersection is to be placed
4 at the far corner rather than the near corner of the intersection.
5 Contractor further covenants and agrees to procure and to
6 de-oosit with the owner an insurance policy issued by some
7 reputable and reliable insurance company protecting himself and 1
8 the owner against public liability and personal property damage
9 throughout the Drogress of such work. Contractor further
10 covenants and agrees to maintain at all times adequate Workmen's
11 Comensation Insurance and further agrees to furnish receipted
12 bills for all labor and material used on said job before any
13 payment of tae contract price shall be payable.
14 2. ane City of Redlands, designated as owner herein
15 covenants and agrees with the contractor to furnish and set all
16 necessary grade and location stakes required for the installa-
17 tion of said traffic signals and the connections therewith with
18 power and feed lines and with each other, and further covenants
19 and agrees to -pay the contractor the sum, of 81147.33 in cash
20 thirty-five days after the coiyroletion and acceptance of said
21 work of installation and the recordation of notice of com-oletion .
22 3. It is covenanted and agreed between the parties here-
23 to that said work and installation is to be -oerformed under the
24 supervision and direction of the City Engineer of the City of
25 Redlands and to his entire satisfaction and that said work
26 shall not be accepted until such time as the said City Engineer
27 has in writing so indicated. It is further covenanted and agreed
28 that in the event of disagreement occurring between owner and
29 contractor as to any detail of such installation work, that
30 the decision of said City Engineer shall be final, conclusive
31 and binding upon the

1 contractor, but that should said decision necessitate any change
2 in dans or specifications or location of signals,, or connecting
3 conduits,, lines or wires or feed line and such change imposes
4 additional cost for labor or mf�terja-1 upon the contractor,

6 after deducting therefrom the rBaso-nable value of the specified

Signals which are to be mounted can post Napa shall be equipped
with four inch slip fitters which may be clamped firmly to a past hav-
ing an external tops diameter of four and one--nal.f inches.
The bidder will be required to furrash complete signal assemblies
.nufactured with such care as will insure a neat and enduring struct-
ure. The axis of signal units and vertical frame members must be para-
llel and must be perpendicular to horizontal frame members. Pipe
frames mast be manufactured by the manufacturer of the signals. Assem-
blies consisting of signal heads and pipe frames not manufactured by
a company regularly engaged in the manufacture of traffic signals will
not be accepted.
The City Counsil reserves the right to reject any or all. bids.
Strap Signs
A reflector stop sign with red blinker of size and dimensions
approved by Division of Highways, State of California.) shall be in-
stalled on each post, to be used at might when lights are not operat-
ing.
