A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
AUTHORIZING SUBMITTAL OF AN APPLICATION TO THE UNITED STATES
DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE (USDA) FOR THE FARMERS' MARKET
PROMOTION PROGRAM (FMPP) GRANT
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) provides funds for
grants to local agencies for projects that establish, expand, and promote direct producer-to-
consumer marketing, and
WHEREAS, the Agricultural Marketing Services (AMS) has the responsibility for the
administration of the program within the USDA, setting up the necessary procedures governing
project applications under the program, and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands recognizes that the demand for locally-produced food
is strong and growing and desires to assist farmers and ranchers meet the demand, and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands intends to continue to improve and expand its two
existing farmers' markets thereby increasing consumption of, and access to, locally produced
agricultural products and developing new market opportunities for local farm operations, and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands, of selected for funding, will seek to enter into an
agreement with the USDA to complete the project upon approval by the City Council,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands as
follows
Section 1 The City Council hereby approves the submittal of an application for the
Farmers' Market Promotion Program(FMPP) Grant
Section 2 The City Council certifies that the City of Redlands will comply in the course
of grant performance with all applicable laws, regulations, Executive Orders, and other generally
applicable requirements, as prescribed by 7 CFR 3015
Section 3 The City Council appoints the City Manager, and his designees, to complete
and submit all documents, including but not limited to applications, payment requests, and
progress reports which may be necessary
