A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS APPROVING
THE NAMING OF A CITY OPEN SPACE PROPERTIES LOCATED IN LIVE OAK
CANYON
WHEREAS, in 2010,the City Council of the City of Redlands approved a Conservation
Easement Deed in favor of the Redlands Conservancy for various City open space properties
located in Live Oak Canyon, and
WHEREAS, in January 2017, the Redlands Conservancy's Board of Directors moved to
name and recommend a name to the City Council of the City of Redlands for certain open space
properties more particularly described in Exhibit "A,"which is attached hereto and incorporated
herem by this reference, and
WHEREAS, the naming of the open space property with a formal name will provide
education on the heritage of the regional Native American population whom historically used
this area in Live Oak Canyon as home and travel, and the term"preserve" denotes that the land
is a safe haven for wildlife and the habitat the wildlife depend on,
NOW,THEREFORE,be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Redlands as follows
Section 1 That the City Council of the City of Redlands names the subject properties
as the "Hergnt `Aki' Preserve at Live Oak Canyon"
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 21 st day of February, 2017
