Gentlemen:
One of the primary objectives of Airco is to sell its products at the
lowest prices possible consistent with high quality and good service. ile
are especially proud of our success in the past in avoiding any increase in
the prices of acetylene or calcium carbide.
During recent months it has become progressively more difficult to main-
tain our present prices of acetylene and calcium carbide, from which acety-
lene is made, due to the ever growing pressure of the increased costs pre-
vailing throughout industry. fhe pressure has now become so great that we
are unable to continue absorbing all of the increases in cost.
Accordingly, we hereby give you written notice under the price adjust-
ment clause of the agreement between us, that, effective April 1.5, 1947,
the prices of compressed dissolved acetylene shall be increased in the
amount of fifteen cents 1150 per hundred cubic feet, and that the prices
of calcium carbide shall be as follows:

all other terms and conditions of such agreement to remain unchanged.

trend of rising costs.
