RELINQUISHMENT OF STATE HIGHWAY
IN THE CITY OF REDLANDS, ROAD VITT-SBd-26-R1d
WHEREAS, that portion of the State highway within the City of Redlands along Central
Avenue and Ocean to Ocean Highway between the west city limit and Morrison Avenue, road
VIII-SBd-26-R1d, hereinafter particularly described, has been superseded by a change in the
location of said highway, and
WHEREAS, the California Highway Commission on July 24, 1957 adopted a resolution
declaring that certain section of State Highway Route 26 in the City of Redlands and the County
of San Bernaidino, between Hunts Lane and the East City Limit of Redlands, road VIII-SBd-26-
A,Rld to be a freeway, and
WHEREAS, the State of California has acquired rights of way foi and has constructed
certain frontage roads, street connections and reconstructed certain city streets in the City of
Redlands between the west city limit and east city limit, road VIII-SBd-26-R1d, in connection
with said freeway, and
WHEREAS, by fieeway agreement dated August 6, 1957 and supplemental agreements
dated Septernbei 1, 1959, March 17, 1960 and May 2, 1961 between the City of Redlands and
the State of California, the City agreed to accept control and maintenance over the frontage
roads, street connections and relocated city streets, or otherwise altered city streets, and to accept
title thereto upon relinquishment thereof to said City by the State of California, and
WHEREAS, this Commission has found and determined, and does hereby find and
determine, that it is desirable and in the public interest that said portions of superseded State
highway and frontage roads, street connections and relocated and reconstructed city streets be
relinquished to the City of Redlands foi use as city streets,
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS VOTED by the California Highway Commission that it
relinquish and it does hereby relinquish to the City of Redlands effective upon the recordation of
a certified copy hereof with the Recorder of San Bernardino County that portion of superseded
State highway and those portions of fi•ontage roads, street connections and relocated and
reconstructed city streets in the City of Redlands, together with the right of way and
appurtenances thereof, described as follows
All of the existing State highway along Cential Avenue and Ocean Highway between the
west city limit of Redlands and Morrison Avenue, (Segment No 1) and Segments No 3 to 8 and
11 to 26, inclusive, shown shaded as indicated on an index map and 15 detail maps, filed for
record on Septembei 8, 1961 in State Highway Map Boon No 5, Pages 56 to 71, inclusive,
Records of said County, which lie between Texas Street and the east city limit of the City of
Redlands

The length of superseded State highway hereby relinquished is 3 10 miles and the length
of frontage roads, street connections and relocated and reconstructed city streets hereby
relinquished is 1 86 miles, making a total length of State highway hereby relinquished of 4 96
miles
EXCEPTING AND RESERVING unto the State of California, any and all rights of
ingress to and egress from the highway hereby relinquished in and to the adjacent and adjoining
freeway except at such points as now are or may be established by resolution of this
Conlnllsslon
The purpose of this resolution is to vest in the City of Redlands as city streets, all of the
State of California's right, title and interest in and to the portions of State highway hereby
relinquished
