A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDLANDS AUTHORIZING SUBMITTAL OF AN APPLICATION TO
THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF HISTORIC PRESERVATION
FOR THE 2016 HISTORIC PRESERVATION FUND GRANT
WHEREAS, on April 11, 2016, the United States Department of the Interioi certified the
City of Redlands as a "Certified Local Goveininent" (CLG), a member of a partnership between
Local, State, and Federal governments through an initiative of the National Park Service
developed to assist local municipalities in protecting their historic iesources, and
WHEREAS, Certified Local Governinents aie eligible for grants to assist in the
iinplementation of local preservation progiams, and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands was awarded the Certified Local Government 2016
Historic Pieservation Fund Grant to develop a citywide historic context statement foi identifying
and evaluating resources within the City of Redlands, and
WHEREAS, authorization fiom the City Council is required to certify the submittal and
obtain reimbursement fol expendituies for the 2016 Historic Preservation Fund Giant, and
WHEREAS, as part of the City's continuing effort towards historic pieseivation and
iecoginition of the City's historic hei itage, a Histoi is Context Statement has been developed and
completed, and was appioved by the City Council on September 19, 2017, and
WHEREAS, the California Enviromnental Quality Act, Section 15061(b)(3) and Section
15262 (Feasibility and Planning Studies) of the CEQA Guidelines, piovides foi exemption from
environixieintal review for planning studies such as the Historic Context Statement
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF REDLANDS AS FOLLOWS
Section 1 The City Council hereby approves the submittal of the application for the 2016
Historic Preservation Fund Grant
Section 2 The City Council certifies that the City of Redlands will comply with all
applicable laws, regulations, Executive Ordeis, and other geneially applicable requirements of
the 2016 Historic Preservation Fund Giant
Section 3 The City Council appoints the City Managei, and his designees, to complete
and submit all documents, including but not limited to applications, payment requests, and
piogiess reports
