SIDE LETTER OF AGREEMENT (2018)
This Side Letter of Agreement amending the July 1, 2017—June 30, 2018, and July 1,
2018—June 30, 2023, Memoranda of Understandings between the Redlands Association
Department Directors ("RADD") and the City of Redlands ("City") is made and entered into this
this 15th day of May, 2018 RADD and the City are sometimes individually referred to herein as
a "Party" and, together, as the "Parties "
RECITALS
WHEREAS, the City has agreed with RADD to two Memoranda of Understandings
("RADD MOUs") foi the periods of July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018, and July 1, 2018 to June 30,
2023, and
WHEREAS, Paragraph 2 of Article 12, entitled "Lifetime Medical," of the RADD MOUs
provides, in general, that RADD unit employees are entitled to a "Medical Bridge" insurance
benefit if they are in compliance with the requirements of that Article upon separation from the
City, and
WHEREAS, it is now the desire of the Parties to provide that the "Medical Bridge"
insurance benefit of Article 12 of the RADD MOUS shall be available to a RADD unit employee
only upon retirement from the City,
NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual promises contained herein, RADD
and the City agree as follows
AGREEMENT
Section 1 Paragraph 2 of Article 12 of the RADD MOUs, entitled "Lifetime Medical," is
hereby amended to read as follows
"Unit employees hired after January 1, 2009 whom achieve three (3) years of
service shall be entitled to a "medical bridge" program for themselves upon
retirement from the City until they become Medicare -eligible "Medical Bridge" is
defined as employee -only coverage and directors who are eligible for bridge
insurance will be entitled to the least expensive health and dental insurance plan as
provided by the City to its then existing Directors through the CAPERS medical
plan until the employee reaches the age of Medicare eligibility at which time the
benefit will cease Directors who receive the medical bridge program can select
coverage for dependents, however, the additional cost must be paid foi by the
respective director and will not be paid for by the City Further, Unit Employees
hired prior to January 1, 2009, who have achieved three (3) years of service with
the City, shall be entitled to the medical bridge insurance upon retirement from the

City if the employee has failed to achieve the fifteen (15) years of service
requirement for the Lifetime medical benefit "
Section 3. All other provisions of the RADD MOUs shall remain in effect and are
unaffected by this Side Letter of Agreement
