HomeMy WebLinkAbout7885RESOLUTION NO 7885 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DELEGATING THE AUTHORITY TO RENDER DETERMINATIONS RELATING TO DISABILITY RETIREMENT APPLICATIONS TO THE REDLANDS CITY MANAGER AND HIS OR HER AUTHORIZED DESIGNEES (THE MANAGEMENT SERVICES/FINANCE DIRECTOR AND THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES/RISK MANAGEMENT) .AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO 6564 WHEREAS, the City of Redlands (herem referred to as the "City") is a contracting agency of the Public Employees' Retirement System, and WHEREAS, the Public Employees' Retirement Law requires that a contracting agency determine whether an employee of such agency, in employment in which he or she is classified as a local safety member, is disabled for purposes of the Public Employees' Retirement Law and whether such disability is "industrial" within the meaning of such law, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City has determined that it may delegate its authority under Section 21173 of the Government Code to make such determinations to the incumbent of the position of City Manager, and his or her authorized designees, specifically the Management Services/Finance Director and the Assistant Director of Human Resources/Risk Management, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands as follows Section 1. That it does hereby delegate, to the incumbent of the position of the City Manager, and his or her authorized designees, specifically the Management Services/Finance Director and the Assistant Director of Human Resources/Risk Management, the authority to make determinations under Section 21152(c) of the Government Code, on behalf of the City, of disability and whether such disability is industrial, and to certify such determinations and all other necessary information to the Public Employees' Retirement System Section 2 That the incumbent City Manager is authorized to make applications on behalf of the City for disability retirement of all employees, and to initiate requests for reinstatement of such employees who are retired for disability Section 3.
