RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS OPPOSING PROPOSITION NO. 15 .
WHEREAS, the voters of the City of Redlands and State of California
will consider Proposition No . 15 , which, provides for reapportionment
of the Senate of the State ; and
WHEREAS, the Senate Reapportionment provided in this plan proposi—
tion changes the number of senators representing various areas in the
State in such manner as to destroy the principle of geographical repre—
sentation, and
WHEREAS, this plan of reapportionment will give San Bernardino
County less numerical representation and cause a drastically dispropor—
tionate relationship as compared with other urbanized counties of
Southern California, and
WHEREAS, the proposed Plan of Reapportionment is opposed by 57 of
the 58 counties of California, the County of Los Angeles being the one
exception; and
WHEREAS, the State Legislature has the duty to make fair reappor—
tionment and will consider it at the appropriate and proper time ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Redlands, hereby reaffirms its opposition to Proposition No . 15 , and
the Reapportionment Plan as being contrary to the best interest of this
City and th i e State of California.
