RESOLUTION NO. 2857
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS FINDING THAT PORTIONS
OF CERTAIN STREETS ARE UNNECESSARY FOR PRESENT OR PROSPECTIVE
STREET PURPOSES AND ORDERING THE VACATION OF SAID STREETS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS hereby ordains and
resolves as follows
SECTION ONE. The City Council of the City of Redlands , having
elected to proceed under the provisions of Division 9, Part 3, Chap-
ter 2 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California,
and having held a public hearing as provided therein, hereby finds
from all evidence submitted that the streets described in this reso-
lution are unnecessary foL present or prospective purposes and that
the public interest and convenience require the closing of said
streets .
SECTION TWO- The City Council hereby orders the vacation of
portions of streets described as follows-
Legal Description for Vacating Portions of Contour Street
and Bridge Street (Fifth Avenue)
Al] that portion of Contour Street and Bridge Street in the
City of Redlands, County of San Bernardino, State of California
described as follows
Beginning at the southerly most corner of that certain parcel ';•
conveyed to the State of California by John H. Hinkle and
Claudia E Hinkle described in Instrument No. 174, recorded
in Book 5228, Page 290, Official Records of San Bernardino
County, said point being on the northerly line of Contour
Street, 60 feet wide and westerly line of Morrison Avenue,
88 feet wide; thence westerly along the north line of Contour
Street south 80032 ' 26" west, 285. 20 feet to an angle point,
thence north 3506 ' 16" west, 111 21 feet along the northerly
line of Bridge Street to the southerly most point of that
certain parcel conveyed to the State of California by John
H. Hinkle and Claudia E Hinkle in Instrument No 173,
recorded in Book 5228, Page 286, Official Records of said
county; said point being on the easterly right of way line
of Interstate Highway 10 also known as Redlands Freeway, thence
southerly along said easterly right of way line to its inter-
section with the westerly prolongation of centerline of
Contour Street; thence easterly along said prolongation of
the centerline and along said centerline of Contour Street
to its intersection with the southerly prolongation of the
west line of that certain parcel described in Instrument
No. 174, thence northerly along the last mentioned prolonga-
tion of the west line to the Point of Beginning

SECTION THREE- In the proceeding herein adopted by this City
Council for the vacation of the streets described in Section 2, the
City of Redlands reserves and excepts from the vacation the permanent
easement and right at any time, or from time to time, to construct,
maintain, operate, replace, remove and renew sanitary sewers and
storm drains and appurtenant structures in, upon, over and across any
street or part thereof proposed to be vacated and pursuant to any
existing franchises or renewals thereof, or otherwise, to construct,
maintain, operate, replace, remove, renew and enlarge lines of pipe,
conduits , cables, wires , poles and other convenient structures, equip-
ment and fixtures for the operation of gas pipe lines , telegraphic
and telephne lines , railroad lines , and for the distribution or trans-
portation of electric energy, petroleum, and its products, ammonia,
water and incidental purposes, including access and right to keep
property free from inflammable materials , and wood gro\.,th, and to
otherwise protect the same from all hazards in, upon, and over the
street proposed to be vacated
SECTION FOUR. The City Council hereby determines that the vaca-
tion of the streets described herein is required by public interest,
convenience, safety and welfare
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED the /.W day of January, 1971 .
