RESOLUTION NO. 2784
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS FINDING THAT
A PORTION OF A CERTAIN STREET IS UNNECESSARY FOR
PRESENT OR PROSPECTIVE STREET PURPOSES AND ORDERING
THE VACATION OF SAID STREET
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS hereby ordains and
resolves as follows :
SECTION ONE- The City Council of the City of Redlands, having
elected to proceed under the provisions of Division 9, Part 3, Chapter
2 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, and
;having held a public hearing as provided therein, hereby finds from all
evidence submitted that the street described in this resolution is un-
necessary for present or prospective purposes and that the public in-
' terest and convenience requires the closing of said street.
SECTION TWO- The City Council hereby orders the vacation of a
portion of a street described as follows-
Legal Description for Vacating Portion of Shepherd Street
That portion of the Northeasterly one-half of Shepherd Street as
shown on Smith' s Subdivision No. 4, recorded in Book 15, Pages
87 and 88 of Maps, described as follows
Commencing at the intersection of Henrietta Street and Shepherd
Street as shown on said Map; thence South 12° 20 ' East 213 3 feet
along the centerline of Shepherd Street to an angle point therein,
said angle point also being the TRUE POINT OF BEGINNING, thence
South 68° 20 ' East 843 4 feet along said centerline to the inter-
section
of the centerline of Dwight Street as shown on said Map.
Excepting therefrom the Westerly one-half of Dwight Street, 60
feet wide, as shown on said Map
Also excepting therefrom the Easterly one-half of that portion of
Shepherd Street, 40 feet wide, shown on said Map as having a bear-
ing of North 12° 20 ' West and North 26° 03 ' East
SECTION THREE- In the proceeding herein adopted by this City
Council for vacation of the street described in Section 2, the City
of Redlands reserves and excepts from the vacation the permanent ease-
ment and right at any time, or from time to time, to construct, main-
tain, operate, replace, remove and renew sanitary sewers and storm
drains and appurtenant structures in, upon, over and across any street
Or part thereof proposed to be vacated and pursuant to any existing
franchises or renewals thereof, or otherwise, to construct, maintain,

operate, replace, remove, renew and enlarge lines of pipe, conduits ,
cables, wires, poles and other convenient structures, equipment and
fixtures for the operation of gas pipe lines, telegraphic and telephone
lines, railroad lines, and for the distribution or transportation of
electric energy, petroleum, and its products, ammonia, water and inci-
dental purposes , including access and right to keep property free from
inflammable materials, and wood growth, and to otherwise protect the
same from all hazards in, upon, and over the street proposed to be
vacated.
SECTION FOUR: The City Council hereby determines that the vaca-
tion of the street described herein is required by public interest,
convenience, safety and welfare
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED the 2nd day of December, 1969.
