You will Find enclosed copies of agreement for Public Health and Sanitation
Services to be provided your citizens by the County Health Department during
the fiscal year 1957-58. This contract has not as yet been approved by the
Board of Supervisors but it is hoped that they will approve the agreement
for the same amount as during the present fiscal year.
You are no doubt aware that a. poliomyelitis vaccination program has been
carried on during recent months which has been an added and unanticipated
service®
During the year the addition of new personnel has made it possible to strengthen
ca mcn.icable disease, including tuberculosis control.
Health Education has been augmented by the return of our Health Educator
Mr. Matthew Bogatin from, a post -graduate course at the School. of Public Aealth
at the University of California.
Through the process of logical, growth in the staff the position of public
health analyst 'aill enable the Department in 1957-58 to give greater stAtistical
validity to its researches into the nature and extent of the health problems
of the various communities and areas of this large county and to measure
progress,
Sanitation services have been intensified particularly in the area of restau-
rant sanitation through more frequent inspections and food -handler education,

AGREEMENT
THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this lst day of
July, 1957, by and between the COUNTY OF SAN BERNARDINO, a body
corporate and politic of the State of California, hereinafter
referred to as COUNTY, and the CITY OF REDLANDS, a municipal
corporation, hereinafter referred to as CITY,
STHESSETH:
RECITALS
1.
It is mutually understood and agreed that both parties
are desirous rf securing uniform enforcement of all laws and _
di
antes pertaining to the public health and sanitation within the
incorporated area of the City of Redlands and the unincorporated
area immediately adjacent thereto and that the Health Department
of the County of San Bernardino is equipped to render such service®
agreed.
AGREEMENTS
Pursuant to the foregoing recitals it is hereby mutually
1.
That pursuant to the provisions
of California, County agrees to perform by and through the County
Health Officer and Other employees of the County, all functions
the same as hereinafter provided.
2.
That the services provided :for herein shall begin on the
lst day of July, 1957, and terminate on the 30th day of June, 1958.

That during the time this contract shall remain in
effect the County Health Officer and his deputies shall exercise
the same powers and duties in the City of Redlands as are con-
ferred upon health officers thereof by law,
4.
That while engaged in the performance of their duties
functions pursuant to this Agreement,, the County Health Officer,
his deputies and employees shall be deemed to be County officers
and employees and not City officers and employees of the City of
Redlands®
5.
That for the performance of the services and functions
herein provided for City agrees to pay to County the total sum of
$3,000.00., payable $1,500.00 on December 15th, 1957, and $1,500.00,

on June 1st, 1958, and that said compensation is deemed to be suf-
ficient in amount to repay the County for the entire cost to it of!
the services to be performed for City and required in the enforce-
ment of ordinances of the City of Redlands under the terms hereof.
