CITY-COUNTY CONTRACT 1958-59 Another year of cooperative Health Service to your citizens by this Department will be completed June 30th. Our physicians, public health nurses, sanitarians, laboratory technicians, and other specialists and their aides have combined their talents and efforts to prevent illness and inconvenience and to promote health and comfort for your constituents. We believe we have been successful in our endeavors, Your support and cooperation have been most helpful in our achievement. We must remind you that effective last January the inspection fees for public eating places that we inspect in the unincorporated areas were increased from $10..00 to $20.00 per place per year. Where multiple functions were carried on under one roof or as one firm a fee for each was added. In order to avoid discriminating against our county area public eating facilities we probably should increase the amount of our agreement with your city to in- clude a corresponding increase for your public eating places. This would be a relatively small increase and one which we trust your restaurant people would not resent were it assessed to them. If your Council should decide to require restaurant grading the added cost would be an additional charge to the city. The Health Department has made additions to its staff thereby strengthening its disease control, child health, and sanitation services. As you are probably aware poliomyelitis vaccination clinics were held in your city for children and yaung adults. A good many persons availed themselves of the opportunity to acquire protection against the disease and the number of cases was less this past year than in the several years previous. Honorable Mayor and Councilmen -2- May 9, 1958 Enclosed are four copies of agreement for continued Health Services for the Fiscal Year 1958-59. Please execute and return all copies to us. We will send a completed copy to you. We again wish to elicit your comments and suggestions regarding our services and to express our appreciation of the opportunity to have been atpart of your team. Sincerely, M. E. COSAND, M. D., County Health Officer. NEC/mar ends
