AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AMENDING CHAPTER
2.32 OF THE REDLANDS MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE CITY OF
REDLANDS' PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMISSION
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 2.32.020 of the Redlands Municipal Code, entitled "Membership," is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 2.32.020: MEMBERSHIP
The parks and recreation advisory commission shall consist of seven (7) members. Six (6)
members shall be appointed by the mayor with the approval of the city council. The seventh
member shall be a city council appointed student member who shall be a full voting member
from the junior class of a Redlands Unified School District high school for a teen of one year,
beginning January 1 and ending December 31 when the student is a senior. Each member shall
serve for a four (4) year term until his or her successor is appointed. No person shall serve more
than two (2) consecutive full terms unless appointed to an additional term by a four -fifths (4/5)
vote of the city council. Vacancies on the commission shall be filled by appointment by the
mayor with the approval of the city council for the unexpired portion of the term. Appointments
made to fill an unexpired term will constitute a full term if more than one-half (1/2) of a term
remains. For example, if a teen is four (4) years and an appointment for an unexpired term is for
more than two (2) years, this appointment constitutes a full term. The members of the
commission shall serve without compensation, shall each be a resident of the city, with the
exception of the student member, and neither a member of any other standing coininission, board
or committee of the city, nor an employee thereof. The city council may remove any member of
the commission at any time, without cause, by a majority vote. Four (4) members of the
corrnnission shall constitute a quorum."
Section 2. Section 2.32.030 of the Redlands Municipal Code, entitled "Members;
Forfeiture of Office by Absence," is hereby amend to read as follows:
"2.32.030: MEMBERS; FORFEITURE OF OFFICE BY ABSENCE
Any member of the Commission who absents himself or herself from any three regular meetings
of the conunission within any twelve (12) month period, unless excused from such attendance by
consent of the commission expressed by action of record in its minutes, shall there by
automatically forfeit his or her office as a member of the commission. The chairperson or
secretary of the Commission shall thereupon, notify the City Council in writing within three (3)
business days after adjournment of any such third meeting at which such member has not
appeared within any twelve (12) month period. The vacancy so created shall be filled pursuant to
section 2.32.020 of this chapter for the unexpired portion of the term."

Section 3. The Mayor shall sign this ordinance and the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this ordinance and shall cause it, or a summary of it, to be published once in the
Redlands Daily Facts, a newspaper of general circulation within the City, and thereafter, this
ordinance shall take effect as provided by law.
