T H I S A G R E EM E N T is entered into effective
SP-ptPmher 3 . 19a5l --between the CITY of REDLAIMS, a
municipal corporation, referred to as "City,"and the REDLANDS
AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY, a non-profit corporation, referred
to as "RAHS" .
City and RAHS agree as follows:
11HEREAS, the RAHS has been in existence since 1972 to
support and advance the many facets of historic pre-
servation, and
W H E R E A S, the RAHS has a goal of obtaining a better
understanding of the history and architectural merits of
the City' s older structures; and
VT H E R E A S, the RAHS has over the years continuously
supported survey and historic inventory activities; and
1,7 TH E R E A S the PAHS has been raising funds for historic
inventory work ; and
W H E R E A S, the RAHS wishes to contribute $5 ,000, to the
City to be added to other grant funds which the City
has received from the State of California conditional
upon the City' s agreement to the performance of certain
terms,*
N4 0 W T H E R E P 0 R E, the City and the RAHS agree that:
1 . The P-71,11S will contribute to the City the sun of
$5 ,000 to be used exclusively in cultural resources
survey work .
2. The City will use the contribution in part to train
and supervise volunteer workers on the survey.

The City will inventory onehundred (100) struc-
tures that are found in the downtown redevelopment
project area, one-half of which shall be completed
prior to the second installment.
4 . The City will establish an on-going educational and
training program for volunteers. Said program,
should include compiling materials that will remain
with the Heritage Collection of the A. K. Smiley
Public Library or the City preservation officer.
Example materials might include a slide show to be
used for various classes and interest groups.
5 . The Survey' s Advisory Review Committee will include
at least two members selected by the RAHS Board of
Directors.
6. The RAHS shall make payments of an initial $2 ,000
at the commiencement of the Survey project, with the
remaining $3 ,000 provided six (6) months there-
after.
7. The City will furnish RAIIS with a report on the
number of structures surveved, how the contribution
was spent, and the progress of the on-going train-
ing program for volunteers. Any unspent funds
shall be returned to the
