Dear Mr. Merritt:
March 5, 1974
Due to the increase of the minimum wage for the State of California
from $1.65 to $2.00 an hour starting March 4, and since our janitors
get $1.75 an hour for doing the work in your buildings, we ask if it
is at all possible to get a raise to cover our costs for employees
who service your buildings.
We are asking for a 512 increase to cover labor and insurance. The
increase would be as follows:
Present Amount 52I Increase New Amount
Police Department $410.00 $22.50 $432.50

Attention: Mr. Pete Merrit
Dear Mr. Merrit:
We in no way want to jeopardize our relationship with Redlands
City Hall and what we are proposing is merely a request, not a
demand.
Effective January 1, 1976, the new Minimum Wage Law will increase
the minimum wage from $2.10 per hour, which we are now paying, to
$2.30 per hour.
Because this increase in wages so directly affects our industry,
we are asking for a monthly increase of $44.00 to cover the mini-
mum wage, payroll tax and insurance, starting January 1, 1976.
Please let us know your feelings on this matter.
Sincerely,
