AN AGREE 11ENT, MADE AND ENTERED INTO THIS .26ih DAY OF
August , 1970, BY AND DETWEEN THE (CITY OF Redlands)
(COUNTY OF San Bernardino ) AND THE CITY OF ONTARIO:
WHEREAS, THE CALIFORNIA 500 RACE WILL BE HELD IN THE CITY OF
ONTARIO ON SEPTET, BER 6, 1970; AND
WHEREAS, THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHICH ARE EXPECTED TO CONGREGATE
IN THE CITY OF ONTARIO FOR THIS EVENT IS SO GREAT THAT THE FIRE
DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF ONTARIO WILL BE IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE
TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES: AND
WHEREAS, THE CITY IS DESIROUS OF CONTRACTING WITH THE (CITY OF

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS AGREED AS FOLLOWS:

AGREES TO PROVIDE, THROUGH THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, ON SEPT.EMBER 5,
1970, BASIC FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES ACCORDING TO THE PLAN OF
FIRE PROTECTION DEVELOPED BY THE FIRE CHIEF OF THE CITY OF
ONTARIO.

AGREES TO PROVIDE TO TIIE CITY OF ONTARIO, THROUGH TIIE FIRE
DEPARTMENT OF THE (CITY OF Redlands - ) (COUNTY OF

IN PRGVIDING FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES ON SEPTEMBER 6, 1970:

3. THE HOURS OF DUTY TO BE PERFORMED BY MEP-11BERS OF THE FIRE
DEPARTMENT UNDER THIS CO!,ITI,ACT WILL BE THOSE ESTABLISIIED BY
THE PLAN FOR FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES DEVELOPED BY THE FIRE

ASSIGNED TO PERFORM DUTIES UNDER THIS CONTRACT HARMLESS
PPDM, AND SHALL DEFEND SAID (CITY) (COUNTY), ITS FIRE
CHIEF AND EMPLOYEES AGAINST ANY CLAIMS FOR DAMAGES RESULT-
ING THEREFROM.
6. THE CITY OF ONTARIO WILL ASSUMBE LIABILITY INSURANCE TO
COVER THE NEGLIGENT ACTS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE FIRE DEPART-

Bernardino ) ASSIGNED TO PERFORM DUTIES UNDER THIS
CONTRACT.
7. THE CITY OF ONTARIO FURTHER AGREES TO ASSUME THE: LIABILITY,
IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE WORKMAN' S COMPENSATION LAWS OF THE
STATE OF CALIFORNIA, FOR ANY INJURY SUSTAINED BY ANY MEMBER
OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE (CITY OF Redlands )
(COUNTY OF San Bernardino
) WHILE SUCH MEMBER IS PERFORM-
ING THE DUTIES UNDER THIS CONTRACT.

.A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TUP CITY OF ONTAPIO,
CALIPORrIT, AUTHORIZING THE SIGNING OF SPECIFIC AGR� EVENTS
FOR SECURIrC ADDITIONIL FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES IN CON-
NECTION WITI. THE CALIFOI:AIA 500 INAUCURAL PACE
WHEREAS, the California 500 race will, be heW in the
`City of Ontario on September 6, 1970; apO
WHEREAS, the number of people which are expected to
congregate in the City of Ontario for this event is so great
that the Fire Department of the City of Ontario will be in need
of assistance: to provide adequate :dire protection services; and
WHEREAS, the city is desirous of contracting with cer-
tain fire protection agencies for fire protection services to be
furnished by such agencies to assist the Fire Department of the
City of Ontario in provic+ing fire protection services on Sep-
tember 6, 1970;
N,011, THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Ontario as follows:
1. The Fire Chief is authorised to secure such
necessary acdiyional fire protection services
with the approval of the City Tanager;
2. The cost of this additional service shall be
paid for by the City of Ontario trough funds
establisher, for this purpose;
3. The hours of duty to be performed by members
of these agencies will be those established
by the plan for fire protection services de-
veloped by the Fire Chief of the City of
Ontario;
4. The fire protection agencies assigned to assist
the Fire Department of the City of Ontario
shall not be deemed to assume any liability for
negligent act: of the City of Ontario or any
officer or employee thereof, and the City of
Ontario agrees to '.tole' these fire protection
agencies, assigned to perform these services,
harmless from, any shall defend said fire pro-
tection agencies and their employees ggainst
any claims or c?adages resulting therefrom;
5. The City of Ontario -will assume liability in-
surance to cover the negligent acts of the
memoers of such fire protection agencies
assignee' to perform these duties;
6. The City of Ontario further agrees to assMle
the liability, in accordance with the Work-
man' s Compensation laws of th6 State of
California, for any injury iusta ine? by any
member of saW fire orotoct ion. agency while

this resolution.

IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and/or the Fire
Chief of the City of Ontario shall be authorized to sign and the
City Clerk to attest specific agreements on behalf of the City
of Ontario for such services.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly
and regularly passed and adopted by the City Council of the City
of Ontario, California, at a regular meeting thereof held on the
1st day of September, 1970.
