HomeMy WebLinkAboutContracts & Agreements_2-1977 AGREEMENT THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this 5th day of January, 1977, by MATICH CORPORATION and the CITY OF REDLANDS , a Municipal Corporation, for the purpose of supplying plant-mixed paving materials , screenings , asphaltic emulsion and seal coat and liquid asphalts , for the period from January 1, 1977 to January 1, 1978 ITEM 1. For furnishing 10, 000 tons , more or less , of dense graded plant-mixed asphaltic paving materials which shall meet the specifications of Section 39 of the Standard Specifications of the State of California, Department of Transportation, dated January, 1975. Such material may be required using penetration asphalts in various grades , and using mineral aggregates of various graduations having a maximum aggregate size not to exceed one-half inch. a F 0 B Matich Redlands plant to City of Redlands trucks . . . . . . . $8 75 per ton b. F.O.B jobs within the corporate limits of City of Redlands . . . $10. 35 per ton ITEM 2 500 tons , more or less , of open graded plant-mixed asphaltic paving material which shall meet the specifications of Section 39-2 . 06 of the aforesaid State Standard Specifications , maximum aggregate size not to exceed three-eighths inch. a F 0 B. Matich Redlands plant to City of Redlands trucks . . . . . . $9. 95 per ton b F.O.B jobs within the corporate limits of City of Redlands . . . . $11 55 per ton ITEM 3 200 tons , more or less , of rock screenings which shall meet the specifications for fine type seal coat of Section 37 of the Standard Specifications . a. F.O.B. jobs within the corporate limits of the City of Redlands . . . . . . $9 00 per ton ITEM 4 2 , 000 gallons , more or less , of asphaltic emulsion which shall meet the specifications of Section 93 of the Standard Specifi- cations a F.O.B. jobs within the corporate limits of the City of Redlands • $0 85 per gallon The plant shall be capable of producing one hundred (100) tons of plant-mixed asphalt paving material per hour upon demand by the City of Redlands If material is not available at Matich' s plant, Matich shall arrange for other means of providing required material . The price per gallon quoted under Item 4 includes all costs in ordering materials , and also includes the cost of the distributor truck and any overtime in excess of the two hours spreading time which is normal for this operation. Barber-Greene Finishing Machine Model SA141 including operator and screed man $88. 00 per hour Asphaltic Emulsion Distributor Truck 30. 00 per hour Tandem Roller, 8-10 Ton 32 . 00 per hour Pneumatic Tired Roller 32 00 per hour The above equipment is to be fully operated and maintained, and includes transportation to and from the job . All equipment shall be available as necessary within one week after a written request. In case of equipment breakdown , the rental rate for the equipment will stop at the time of breakdown. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have caused this contract to be executed the day and year first above written. Hein, Redlands Daily Facts Pat Sheeran, San Bernardino Sun Russ Van Arsdale, KCAL ABSENT None The meeting was opened with the pledge of allegiance, followed by the invocation by Vice Mayor Knudsen in the absence of Reverend Weemhoff. The minutes of the regular meeting of December 21, 1976, were approved as submitted. Mayor DeMirjyn called to the podium Alice Walls, retiring Deputy City Clerk, and Eugene Johnson, retiring Water Office Manager. Mayor DeMirjyn presented Mrs. Walls with a certificate of appreciation for her service to the City of Redlands and thanked her for her conscientious and dedicated efforts in behalf of the citizens of Redlands since 1963 . Mayor DeMirjyn then presented Gene Johnson with a certificate of appreciation for his service since 1966. He wished both retirees happiness in their plans for the future. BIDS Bids for weed abatement and waste disposal were opened and publicly declared in the office of the City Clerk on December 28, 1976, at 10:00 A.M. from the following firms: Douglas Holman, 26395 Cypress, Highland, California; Joseph P. McGraw, Jr. , 845 Evergreen, Redlands, California; and Maranatha Disking, 11262 Walnut, Bloomington, Cali- fornia. Weed City Manager Mitchell stated that these bids are still Abatement being studied by the Fire Department and that a recom- mendation will be forthcoming at a later date. Page one - January 4, 1977 BIDS (Continued) Bids from the following firms for equipment rental for 1977 were opened and publicly declared in the office of the City Clerk at 10 .00 A.M. this date- Fontana Paving, Inc. , Fontana, industrial Asphalt, Baldwin Park; and Matich Corporation, Colton. At this time, it is the recommendation of the Department Equipment of Public Works that the bid of the Matich Corporation Rental for equipment rental for 1977 be approved, as this bid includes a Barber-Greene Finishing Machine which has been used in the past by the City. Bids from the following firms for furnishing of paving materials for 1977 were also opened and publicly declared in the office of the City Clerk at 10 .00 A .M. this date. Fontana Paving, Inc , Fontana, Industrial Asphalt, Baldwin Park; Matich Corporation, Colton, and E. L. Yeager Construction Company, Inc , Riverside. It is the recommendation of the Department of Public Paving Works that award be made to the Matich Corporation for Material the furnishing of paving materials for 1977, as the lesser cost of hauling offsets the higher price of material. Following discussion on these bids, on motion of Council- Bid Awards man Miller, seconded by Councilwoman Grace, unanimous approval was given to the award of both bids to the Matich Corporation. PUBLIC HEARINGS Resolution No. 3311, a resolution of the City Council of the City of Redlands declaring that certain real property is no longer required for public use, and ordering the sale of said property, set the public hearing on this Resolution property sale for this time and place. Mayor DeMirjyn No. 3311 opened the meeting as a public hearing for any questions, Property comments, or protests to the sale of the property Sale described in Resolution No. 3311. There being no com- ments, questions, or protests, Mayor DeMir3yn declared the meeting closed as a public hearing, and on motion of Councilwoman Grace, seconded by Councilman Miller, sale of the property was authorized and Resolution No. 3311 was approved.
