LOS ANGELES CALIF June 12, 1944 Reference is made to conference between you and representative of this office on Nay 12, 1944, at which time the City of Redlands issued Con- struction, Survey & Exploration Permit to the United States covering the property described as follows: A parcel of land in San Bernardino County, State of California, being a portion of the Northwest quarter of the Southeast quarter of Section 8, Township 1 South, Range 3 West, San Bernardino Base and Ifieridian, described as follows: Beginning at the center of said Section 8; thence Easterly along the East -'fest quarter Section line 660 feet; thence Southerly at right angles to said quarter section line 150 feet; thence in a Southwesterly direction to a point on the North-South quarter Section line which is distant Southerly along said North- South quarter Section line 375 feet from the center of said Section 8; thence Northerly along the North-South quarter section line 375 feet to the point of beginning. Further reference is made to statement by you at the above conference to effect that the Governmentts purchase price offer of $100.00 for subject land would be acceptable to the City of Redlands. Pursuant to said understanding, transmitted find the following: 1. Seven copies of Option. 2. Three copies of Voucher in the amount of $100.00. 3. Two copies of Deed. 4. Seven copies of Certificate to effect that there is no legal upon sale of subject tract to the Government by the City of Redlands. If satisfactory to you it is requested that the original and five the Option be sealed, executed and attested by the proper officials restraint copies of City Attorney June 12, 1944 of the City; that the two white copies of the Voucher be executed by the proper officials of the City; that the original copy of the Deed be sealed., executed, attested,and acknowledged before a notary, by the proper officials of the City, that six copies of the Certificate,regarding no legal restraint,be signed by your City Clerk and returned to this office accompanied by six certified copies of Resolution of your City Council authorizing execution of Option to- gether with copy of Resolution authorizing execution of Deed. By way of possible assistance, inclosed find copies of Resolutions of a similar nature utilized by the Government in a comparable transaction with the City of Newport Beach. The Preliminary Certificate of Title in possession of this office discloses the following Exceptions, among others: 1. June 21, 19/ Reference is made to letter to you from this office dated June 12, 1941 in which documents were submitted for execution in con- nection with the Government's acquisition of Tract 80. On page 2 of the letter above referred to, mention vitas made of certain title exceptions. For your information, this office1e 44, that is advised by letter from the Security Title Compandated Junee 15, 19enus and is the Exception pertaining to the Gage Canal Company was errnow eliminated and that the Exception pertaining to Rena McKeever may be eliminated if she was named as a defendant in the Complaint in Con- demnation in Case No. 1972-Y, United States District Court. Examination of said Complaint in Condemnation revealed that Rena McKeever was named as a defendant therein, the Title Company has been so advised, and hence it is believed this Exception will also be eliminated As to the Exception pertaining to reservation as contained in the patent from the United States to Elmer D. Robertson, the Title Company has confirmed the opinion that such reservations will merge on recording the Deed to the Government from the City of Redlands, and consequently may be disregarded.
