HomeMy WebLinkAboutContracts & Agreements_162A-2001_CCv0001.pdf AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH REDLANDS PROFESSIONAL FIREFIGHTERS' ASSOCIATION This Amendment No. I to the Memorandum of Understanding dated January 16, 2001, by and between the City of Redlands ("City") and the Redlands Professional Firefighters' Association ("RPFA") is made and entered into this 20th day of November, 2001. RECITALS WHEREAS,the RPFA and the City have met and conferred in good faith and in accordance with law with regard to potential cost savings the City will incur as a result of members of the RPFA changing their health insurance plans during the calendar year 2001; and WHEREAS, the City and the RPFA have agreed that a one-time "bonus" shall be paid to members of the RPFA to encourage their change of health care plans and effect a substantial savings to the City for the year 2002; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City and the RPFA to amend their existing Memorandum of Understanding dated January 16, 2001 to provide for the payment of a one-time bonus to RPFA members in accordance with the schedule hereinafter set forth, NOW,THEREFORE,in consideration of the mutual promises contained herein,and for such other good and valuable consideration, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, the Redlands Professional Firefighter's Association and the City of Redlands agree as follows: Section 1. The Memorandum of Understanding between the RPFA and the City, dated January 16, 2001, is hereby amended by the addition of the following paragraph which shall read as follows: "In consideration of members of the Redlands Professional Firefighters'Association changing health insurance plans which will result in the savings of$67,436 dollars to the City during the calendar year 2002, the City shall pay $33,718 dollars to the members of the Redlands Professional Firefighter's Association as a one-time, taxable, cash payment under the following schedule: RPFA members with PERS Care $1,000 x I = $1,000 RPFA members with PORAL $ 900 x 18 = $16,200 All members of RPFA $330.36 x 50 = $16, 518 TOTAL $33,718 The one-time cash payment shall be paid by the City on or before March 1, 2002" 1 Sd}m'.Apreemenw5076 amend mou wpd I Section 2. All of the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Redlands Professional Firefighters'Association and the City of Redlands dated January 16,2001 shall remain in full force and effect.. Section 3. Any dispute over the interpretation or application of this Amendment shall be resolved through the grievance process of the Memorandum of Understanding. Resolution No. 5978 - CNG Vehicles Purchase - On motion of Councilmember Gilbreath, seconded by Councilmember Freedman, the City Council unanimously adopted Resolution No. 5978, a resolution of the City Council of the City of Redlands authorizing participation in the Alternative Fuels Local Government Match Program and allocating 2002.103 subvention funds for the purchase of compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles. Facility Use Agreement - Boys and Girls Club of Redlands - On motion of Councilmember Haws, seconded by Councilmember Freedman, the City Council unanimously approved a facility use agreement with the Boys and Girls Club of Redlands on a month-to-month basis until they complete renovations to the Clay Street property and are able to relocated their operations and authorized the Mayor and City Clerk to sign the agreement on behalf of the City. Funds - Police Customer Service Representative - On motion of Councilmember Haws, seconded by Councilmember Freedman, the City Council unanimously approved one additional full-time Customer Service Representative position to convert a part-time clerk position assigned to the north substation for the Redlands Police Department and authorized an additional appropriation of $12,500.00. Funds - California Law Enforcement Equipment Program - On motion of Councilmember Haws, seconded by Councilmember Freedman, the City Council unanimously accepted funds in the amount of $50,125.00 from the California Law Enforcement Equipment Program and authorized an additional appropriation in the same amount. MOU Amendment - RPFA - On motion of Councilmember Haws, seconded by Councilmember Freedman, the City Council unanimously ratified �vn J amendment to the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with V the Redlands Professional Firelighters Association (RPFA) relating to a change in their health insurance plans. Proclamation - Stan and Ellen Weisser - Mayor Pro Tem George announced the Grayback Council of the Boy Scouts of America have named Stan and Ellen Weisser "Citizens of Distinction" and will honor them at a dinner on December 7, 2001, at the University of Redlands. He moved to authorize issuance of a proclamation recognizing this honor. Motion seconded by Councilmember Peppler and carried unanimously. November 20,2001 Page 3
