HomeMy WebLinkAboutContracts & Agreements_139-2006_CCv0001.pdf MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY OF REDLANDS 7 AND THE UNIVERSITY OF REDLANDS This Memorandum of Understanding is made this 20th day of June, 2006 by and between the City of Redlands ("City"), a municipal corporation and the Universit of Redlands ("University"). y Recitals Whereas, the City proposes to enter into an agreement with ABT-Haskell Redlands, LLC for the construction and operation of a state of the art Air Lance Organic Waste Recycling System (the "Recycling Facility") in proximity to the City's Water Reclamation facility; and Whereas, the Recycling Facility will include a visitor's gallery to promote public tours to educate the community on issues of composting, water conservation, reuse and recycling, and watershed health; and Whereas, the Recycling Facility will also include a two thousand (2,000)square foot greenhouse and adjoining outdoor growing area in which California native plants and non- native and native organic flowers will be grown for local and regional environmental, aesthetic and educational benefit; and Whereas, the City and ABT-Haskell Redlands, LLC it would be beneficial for the community for the University to undertake an cooperative wledge teducational program with the City and ABT using each of the entities' facilities and expertise; Now, therefore, in consideration of the mutual promises contained here, the City of Redlands and the University of Redlands, agree as follows: Agreement Section 1. The City and the University shall cooperate in the preparation of an agreement whereby the University will agree to the following: A. The University will include this greenhouse collaboration with the City and ABT-Haskell Redlands, LLC in its established work-study and/or a community service program, and encourage and facilitate the participation of University students in the management of the above described greenhouse and educational facility; B.
