C 0 K T R A 0 T w 1 2 3 THIS AGREEB3T trade this � � day of 4 19199 by and between the a L I� of California, party of the first part, and the Automobile Club of Southern California, a corporation, party ` # of the second part, 8 WITNESSETH: That 9 �EiEREAS, the California Vehicle Act as amended in 10 7.919 by the Legislature of the State of California requires 11 12 that the various counties and cities in the State of California erect certain signs designating the "business district" and 13 w % zv� 14 'closely built up territory" defined in Subdivisions 5 and 6 C t. tea~ 15 of Section 1 of said Act, if such counties and cities are to �L � W;- legitimately enforce the provisions of Section 22 of said Vehicle a 16 Ly 6i A Act governing the speed of Vehicles, and 00 17 a� 18 SAS, the party of the second part has offered 19 to erect signs in the manner and form required by the law for the 20 party of the first part, at such locations as may be agreed upon 21 by the parties hereto, provided the party of the first part 22 employs the party of the second part to maintain such signs 23 and agrees in consideration of the erection of such signs and 24 them maintenance to pay said party of the second part therefor 25 all sums expended for material used in the replacing or 26 repairing of such signs or the posts on which they are erected; 27 and the party of the first part desires to accept said offer, 28 NOW THEREFORE, it is agreed that the party of the 29 second part shall perform all of the necessary labor and furnish 30 31 all materials for the erection of such signs as are required by Subdivisions 5 and o of Section 1 of the California Vehicle Act 32 to be erected by the the parties of the first part before said G 0 R I N V 0 1 1 party of the first part can legally enforce the speed regulations 2 1 of Section 22 of said Act:. Such signs shall each be mounted 3 upon one substantial Redwood post twelve ( 12) feet long, four 4 (4) inches wide, four (4) inches thick, tapered at the top end, 5 to be painted with two full coats of white lead paint. Each 6 7 sign shall be made of eighteen (18) inch gauge steel , and shall. 8 be triangular in shape, having the corners roundea. The sides 9 shall each be twenty—four (24) inches in length. Each such 10 sign shall be erected in the manner required by law and shall 11 be placed upon the post, such as herein described, which shall 12 be set three (3) feet deep in the ground, in such a manner that bU 13 the post shall stand upright.
