HomeMy WebLinkAbout6667RESOLUTION NO 6667 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2007, DECLARING THE RESULTS AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW WHEREAS, a general municipal election was held and conducted in the City of Redlands on Tuesday, November 6, 2007, as required by law, and WHEREAS, notice of the election was given in time, form and manner as provided by law, that voting precincts were properly established, that election officers were appointed, and that in all respects the election was held and conducted and the votes were cast, received and canvassed and the returns made and declared in time, Corm and manner as required by the provisions of the California Elections Code tor the holding of elections in general law cities, and WHEREAS, pursuant to City Council action approved on June 19, 2007, the County Registrar of Voters canvassed the returns ot the election and has certified the results to this City Council, said results are received, attached and made a part hereof as "Exhibit "A," NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council ot the City of Redlands does resolve, declare, determine and order as follows SECTION 1 That the names of persons voted tor at the election tor Member ot the City Council, were as follows Eddie Tejeda Jerry Bean Jeff Sceranka Henry William Nickel Nancy Ruth White Gilberto Gil Pete Aguilar That the names ot the persons voted for at the election foi City Clerk were as follows Lorne Poyser Joell Ackerman That the name of the person voted foi at the election foi City Treasures was as follows Michael Reynolds SECTION 2 That the measure voted upon at the election was as follows Measure F - Shall Ordinance No 2664 be adopted to establish a business license tax initially in the amount of three and one -halt cents pei square toot of gross flooi area, an annual adjustment by the consumer price index, but not to exceed five cents per square foot tot distribution center businesses located within the City for the purpose of raising revenue to defray the costs of providing City services and supplement the City's General Fund9 SECTION 3 That the number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes given in the City to each of the persons named above for the respective office for which the persons were candidates and the number of votes for and against the measure are as listed in Exhibit "A" attached hereto SECTION 4 That the City Council of the City of Redlands does hereby declare and determine that Jerry Bean was elected as a Membei of the City Council for the full term of tour years, Pete Aguilar was elected as a Member of the City Council foi the hill term ot foul years Lorre Poyzer was elected as City Clerk for the full term of four years, and Michael Reynolds was elected as City Treasurei for the full term of four years SECTION 5 That as a result ot the election, a majority of the voters voting on Measure F, relating to the distribution center business license tax did vote in favoi of it, and that the measure was carried and shall be deemed adopted and ratified SECTION 6 The City Clerk shall entei on the records ot the City Council of the City of Redlands a statement of the results of the election showing the whole numbei of votes cast in the city, the names of the persons voted for, the measurer voted upon, tor what office each person was voted for, the number of votes given at each precinct to each person, and for and against each measure, and the total number of votes given to each person, and for and against each measure SECTION 7 That the City Clerk shall immediately make and delivei to each of the persons so elected a Certificate of Election signed by the City Clerk and authenticated, that the City Clerk shall also administer to each person elected the Oath of Office prescribed in the Constitution of the State ot California and shall have them subscribe to it and file it in the Office of the City Clerk, and each and all of the persons so elected shall then be inducted into the respective office to which they have been elected ADOPTED;
