WHEREAS, the City of Redlands, California owns property
in the City of Redlands, known as Prospect Park, and particularly
the 25. 45 acres of orange groves (3 parcels) ; and,
WHEREAS , the City of Redlands owns property in the City of
Redlands located on Judson Street and also Crafton Avenue consisting
of approximately 27 acres of orange groves , 10 of which are owned
by the Redlands Unified School District of which we will maintain
as per this agreement and will bill them or distribute earnings
to them on a fifty-fifty basis ; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands is desirous of maintaining the
above orange groves and the marketing of the crops in the best
interest of the City of Redlands;
NOW THEREFORE it is agreed that the United Southern Citrus
Growers Company agrees that
(1) They will supervise and care for the groves with diligence and
intelligent economic care.
(2) For the above management they will not charge the customary
$2 .00 per acre per month fee .
(3) They will pay all bills for such care - i .e. , cultivation, ir-
rigation, spraying and other incidental labor out of their funds .
(4) They will not charge you any interest for this capital outlay
for such care.
(5) They will pick, pack, and market the crop through Sunkist
Growers, Inc. with which they are affiliated. They will deduct
all advances for the grove care which they have already spent
and remit to the City of Redlands the balance at the end of
each season.
(6) They will maintain records of all expenditures for the City of
Redlands inspection anytime the City of Redlands so desires .
(7) The City of Redlands will furnish all water for irrigation of
these groves at no charge to United Southern Citrus Growers
Company.
(8) The United States Soil Conservation Service, the San Bernardino
County Agricultural Department and the University of California
Extension Service shall advise when necessary for irrigation
water management, pest control, and cultural practices.
(9) They, or the City of Redlands, by letter may cancel this agree-
ment but not before the end of each crop year and the final
accounting has been settled by United Southern Citrus Growers
Company and the City of Redlands.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF the parties hereto have executed this agree-
ment the 6th day of March 1979 .
