He states subsequent meetings have been held with the various cities and a proposal has been determined wherein ten of the fourteen' cities will participate in a cost- sharing program for the contract of such census. He states the County, as Contracting Agent, must apply to the Bureau of the Census for this special census and must deposit $5, 000. 00 at that time prior to September 1, 1974, in order to obtain the special census in April of 1975 . He states the County must appropriate add- itional monies of $98, 000. 00 in January 1975 and approximately $083 , 000. 00 in April, 1975 for the balance of the funding for this census . He states that cities are to reimburse the County for their propor- tionate share of the cost in accordance with an agreement prior to September 30, 1975, and it has been estimated that cities will re-- ceive increased subventions resulting from the special census which will amortize their costs for the census in about one year. He states the County will amortize its cost in about two to two and one-half years and in addition all jurisdictions will benefit from the up- dated statisticai information which is required for planning purposes and for use in conjunction with other Federal programs . Whereupon, following discussion, on motion by Supervisor Mayfield, duly seconded by Supervisor Hansberger and carried , the Board of Supervisors hereby approves the following : 1. The County is to act as Contract Agent for the special mid-decennial census and the Chairman is authorized to initiate such request and appropriate $5 , 000. 00 for the initial deposit and sign related documents; 2. Approves additional funding from contingencies for expen- diture in January, 1975, in the amount of $98, 000. 00 and in April, 1975, in the estimated amount of $283, 000. 00 for balance of payment of the census ; 3 . Further, the Board directs the Administrative office to consummate this action with the valitaus cities and directs the necessary actions be taken to carry out the census.
