Brier Dr. San Bernardino CA 92408 Dear Ms. Benner, It is with great pleasure that I write to express the City of Redlands' enthusiastic support for this Disposition and Demolition application. This application for Disposition and Demolition would permit HUD to dispose of the 115 units of public housing plus the public housing office in a phased approach located at the northeast corner of Lugonia Avenue and Orange Street, Redlands, California to the Housing Authority of the County of San Bernardino (HACSB). These public housing units are over 60 years old and in need of significant renovation. Subsequent to the disposition, HACSB will transfer the properties to its nonprofit affiliate Housing Partners I, Inc., a local non-profit, who will act as the managing general partner of a limited partnership in the redevelopment of the site with 228 new apartments and single family units in a phased approach for both the existing residents of the site and/or new low-and moderate-income residents should the existing residents choose to relocate elsewhere with relocation vouchers. The new development will provide quality affordable housing to the area and will have a major impact on the overall quality of the neighborhood and the City. The Housing Authority of the County of San Bernardino is seeking HUD's approval to enter into an Agreement of Sale with Housing Partners I, Inc. This agreement would further assist the City of Redlands with our goal of rejuvenating neighborhoods where housing units are in need of substantial rehabilitation. It would also endorse critical public/private partnerships, such as that between the HACSB and Housing Partners I. Inc. We feel that this agreement would be in the best interest of all involved. Sincerely, Pete Aguilar Mayor nwoai"
