HomeMy WebLinkAboutContracts & Agreements_211-2018CITY OF REDLANDS AND THE REDLANDS ASSOCIATION OF DEPARTMENT DIRECTORS SIDE LETTER OF AGREEMENT (2018) This Side Letter of Agreement amending the July 1, 2018 — June 30, 2023 Memorandum of Understanding between the Redlands Association of Department Directors ("RADD") and the City of Redlands ("City") is made and entered into this 20th day of November, 2018 RADD and the City are sometimes individually referred to herein as a "Party" and, together, as the "Parties " RECITALS WHEREAS, on December 5, 2017, RADD and the City agreed to a Memorandum of Understanding ("RADD MOU") for the period of July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2023, and WHEREAS, the Parties now wish to clanfy their intentions with respect to Article 12, paragraph 2 of the RADD MOU, and WHEREAS, representatives of the City and RADD have met and conferred in good faith, and now wish to effect changes with respect to Article 12, paragraph 2 of the RADD MOU, NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual promises contained herein, RADD and the City agree as follows AGREEMENT Section 1 Article 15, paragraph 2 of the RADD MOU, entitled "Lifetime Medical" is hereby amended to read as follows Unit members hired after January 1, 2009 whom achieve ten (10) years of continuous service with the City may elect to receive "medical bridge" health insurance from the City upon concurrent retirement from the City and the CaIPERS system "Medical Bndge" health insurance is defined as single party coverage for the retired unit member only Members who elect bridge medical health insurance will be entitled to coverage under the lowest cost medical, dental, and vision insurance plans as provided by the City to its then existing unit members until the member reaches the age of Medicare eligibility at which time the benefit will cease Unit members who receive the medical bridge health insurance can select higher cost plans offered by the City to its then existing members and/or coverage for dependents, however, the additional cost for the plan or additional dependents shall be paid for by the unit member and not by the City Further, Unit members hired pnor to January 1, 2009, who have achieved ten (10) years of service with the City, shall be entitled to the medical bridge insurance upon retirement from the City if the employee failed to achieve the fifteen (15) years of service requirement for the Lifetime medical benefit 1 CITY OF REDLANDS REDLANDS ASSOCIATION OF DEPARTMENT DIRECTORS Paul Barich, Mayo Pro Tempore E.is Boat a az , President Attest De Donaldson, , City Clerk 2
