Chairman Cummings opened the meeting of the
Redlands Redevelopment Agency. This meeting
was called for the purpose of hearing an overview
of the experience of the City of Pomona in the
area of redevelopment.
Mayor Cummings expressed disappointment at
the very limited attendance.
City Manager Merritt introduced Mr. Fred Sharp,
City Manager of the City of Pomona, who in turn
 - introduced the gentlemen who had attended the
meeting with him to share with Redlands their
experiences; Mr. Charles Stillinger, Chairman
of the Pomona Redevelopment Agency, M . Conrad
Krebs, Mr. Joe Alvin, and Mr. Russ Priebe.
Mr. Sharp and Mr. Stillinger presented an
enthusiastic, comprehensive summary of the
problems involved and the methods they had
used in an attempt to achieve their goal without
applying for Federal funds.
The Pomona policy is one of a strong downtown,
and this was emphasized throughout the presentation.
The Council asked many questions and received
much forthright information during the discussion
which followed the presentations. Mayor Cummings
then thanked each visitor for taking the time
to visit Redlands and share his thoughts and
experience.
The meeting adjourned at 9:30 P.M. The next
meeting will be called at a latex date.
