PRESENT Jack B. Cummings, Chairman Ellsworth E. Miller, Vice Chairman Charles G. DeMirjyn, Member Chresten M. Knudsen, Member Bertha Rose Grace, Member R. P. Merritt, Jr. , Acting Executive Director Edward F. Taylor, City Attorney Peggy A. Moseley, Secretary Erwin S. Hein, Redlands Daily Facts Pat Sheeran, San Bernardino Sun ABSENT None Executive Director Merritt reported that the bids Phase for Phase ISI Demolition had not yet been com- III pleted for advertising, but added that there was ample time for this . Mr. Merritt added that the study of the funds derived from sale of Parking District lots would Reports be brought at a later date by the City Attorney, and also that the report on "blighted areas" would be forthcoming at a later date. Mr. Merritt announced that negotiations had been completed with Mrs. Dan McEwen and the members v of the McEwen Furniture Co. for the acquisition � m of their property on West State Street. He added that the McEwens have been most coopera- tive in the handling of this matter, and have proceeded rapidly with the construction of their new building in order to facilitate re- development. McEwen Property Mr. Merritt requested that the Agency acquire $150,000 .00 from the City Council as a loan to the Agency which would be turned over to the McEwen Co. outside of escrow as a part of the total payment for the property. This was discussed at length. Mr. Knudsen moved that the Agency advance $150,000.00, out- side of escrow, to be borrowed at the legal rate of interest from the general fund; the motion further stated that it was subject to the parties proceeding promptly for the purchase of the McEwen property at a price that had been agreed upon. Motion seconded by Dr. Miller and carried by the following roll call vote: AYES : Members Miller, Knudsen, Grace, Chair- man Cummings NOES : None ABSTAIN: Member DeMirjyn The Council joined Mr. Merritt in an expression of appreciation to the McEwen firm for their assistance and cooperative efforts.
