Hein, Redlands Daily Facts Mike Murphy, San Bernardino Sun ABSENT None The minutes of the regular meeting of January 17, 1978 and the adjourned regular meeting of January 31, 1978 were approved as submitted. Jean Williamson, Chairman of the Board of Redlands Business Employee Improvement District, brought to Council a petition signed Parking by 190 employees of 23 business establishments located in For wr BID the core area. The petition requested: "immediate action to provide parking for those people who are employed in the Business Improvement District. " In her presentation, Ms. Williamson listed several alter- native , the designating of areas as employee parking with sale of parking permits to employees and employers to allow all-day parking in portions of existing lots ; the possibility of angle parking on Olive Avenue to pro- vide an immediate temporary solution; and the assigning of a portion of the lot at Fifth and Citrus for all-day parking after decking. Mr. Don Leonard, member of the BID Parking Task Force, urged angle parking on Olive Avenue as an immediate re- lief, and consideration of other streets to be used, as State Street presently is for drive-thru parking. Mr. Leonard said that the traffic speed on such streets could be slowed to accomodate this use and added that people wishing to speed through Redlands could use Redlands Bou- levard. Employee Parking Mrs, MacFarland pointed out that some employers are For Oil- BID subsidizing parking for their employees . Doctor Miller added that he also furnishes parking for his em- ployees. He added that he has had complaints about the danger of walking to distant parking places after dark in the winter months . Mr. Mitchell stressed the cost of furnishing parking for employees within the downtown area, Councilman Knudsen recommended that the Task Force pre- sent precise numbers of needed parking places for employ- ees, and obtain cost estimates for parking structures. Mr. Mitchell stated that the Disposition and Development Agreement between the Agency and the developer does not permit the use of the parking under the Harris building for all-day parking for outside-the-mall employees, as presently written, Neven Limburg spoke briefly concerning the material NN brought to Council and was urged to have the Task Force members develop specific figures, Where being no further business, the Redevelopment Agency adjourned, on motion, at 4.15 P.
