NEW BUSINESS
Housing Set-Aside Funds - Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit national and
global organization that builds and sells homes to pre-selected low income
families. The selected family must help in the construction and yard
preparation of their dwelling by donating 500 hours of volunteer time. The
organization will sell the home to the pre-selected family with a "no interest, no
down payment" mortgage based on what it costs to build the house. Redlands
Federal Bank has committed funds for the purchase of materials and
professional labor for a Habitat house if the local chapter provides the site and
builds the house. The group effort will be accomplished as a tribute to the
retiring Redlands Federal CEO President Bob Weins. Target stores have
committed building materials and professional supervision. The Habitat for
Humanity Organization applied for funds from the housing set-aside funds to
cover the cost of land acquisition and the City's development fees. On behalf
of the Habitat for Humanity Organization Larry Hendon urged the
Redevelopment Agency Board to support their project and approve their
request for the set-aside funds. Mr. Cunningham moved to authorize
$80,546.00 of set-aside funds for the acquisition of land and payment of City
fees for the local Habitat for Humanity Organization for the construction of two
homes for low income families. Motion seconded by Mr. Larson and carried
unanimously.
Escrow Cancellation - The Agency Board authorized the sale of 346 and 348
North Orange Street to Fred Thornes and Gary Heroneme in November, 1994.
Staff has been informed by the escrow holder that the buyers have not
deposited the cash balance required to close escrow and recommended
