HomeMy WebLinkAbout4699RESOLUTION NO 4699 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS OPPOSING PROPOSITION 128, THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION ACT OF 1990 WHEREAS, Proposition 128, the Environmental Protection Act of 1990, on the November 1990 general election ballot would cause major changes in environmental policy and regulation, and WHEREAS, Proposition 128 would require a substantial amount of investment- to- upgrade water and wastewater facilities to meet new stringent standards, and WHEREAS, Proposition 128 would enact water quality requirements which will negatively affect the ability to produce and deliver reclaimed water by limiting the use of certain disinfection techniques and by restricting the discharge of reclaimed water to surface water systems, and WHEREAS, Proposition 128 would alter the current requirements that competing uses should be balanced in the public interest to favoring the propagation of fish, shellfish and their habitat over other beneficial uses, and WHEREAS, the changes would adversely affect the City's ability to supply water and managing wastewater to the best benefits of the community, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redlands does hereby oppose the enactment of Proposition 128, the Environmental Protection Act of 1990 ("Big Green Initiative") due to its detrimental and adverse affect on the City's ability to meet citizen's demands for water supply and wastewater management ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED, this 16th day of October, 1990 SIGNED RESO4699 ` M4yo.kC1Kof Rdc land PAGE 1 ATTEST' eputy City Clerk City of Redlands, California I, Beatrice Sanchez, Deputy City Clerk of the City of Redlands, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was adopted by the City Council at a regular meeting thereof, held on the 16th day of October, 1990, by the -following- vote AYES Councilmembers Beswick, Cunningham, Larson, Milson, Mayor DeMirjyn NOES None ABSENT None Deputy City Clerk RES04699 PAGE 2
