invocation by Councilman Jack B. Cummings.
Minutes of the regular meeting of June 21, 1966, wereapproved as
mitted.
BIDS Bids on Select Street System No. 159 were opened at 10 :00 A.M. , t
date in the office of the City Clerk. It is the request of the r
ment of Public Works that award be tabled until the meeting of Ju
1966, to allow for detailed departmental study.
PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATIONS
As considered by the City Council at a regular meeting thereof he
July 5, 1966, at 3:00 P.M.
Present: Councilmen Martinez, Hartzell, Cummings, DeMirjyn, Mayo
Burroughs, Attorney Carl Davis
1. Lot Split No. 375 - Philip_ B . Lukei
That the request of Philip B. Lukei for permission to split prop-
erty located on the north side of valley view Drive between Count
Club Drive and Mirada Drive - Lot Split No. 375 - be approved sub
ject to the recommendations of the various departments as contain
in Planning Commission minutes, dated June 28, 1966, deleting
therefrom Planning Department Recommendation No. 3; and that the
street between Valley View and Sunset Drive be dedicated and im-
proved when the rest of the property is developed. on motion of
Councilman Hartzell, seconded by Councilman Cummings, the recom-
mendation of the Planning Commission was adopted by the City
Council.
2. Home Occupation Permit No. 96 - Robert E. Snyder
That the request of Robert E. Snyder for a Home Occupation Permit
to install a business phone in his home at 413 San Mateo Street b
approved subject to the recommendations of the Planning Departmen
On motion of Councilman DeMirjyn, seconded by Councilman Hartzell
this re-commendation was adopted by the City Council.
3. Home Occupation Permit No. 61 - Carol L. Redmond - Time Extension
That the request of Carol L. Redmond for a time extension of Home
Occupation Permit to do typing in her home at 1419 West Palm Aven
be approved subject to the recommendations of the Planning Depart
meat. On motion of Councilman Cummings, seconded by Councilman
Hartzell, this recommendation was adopted by the City Council.
4. Home Occupation Permit No. 90 - Donald E. Newhham - Time Extensio
That the request of Donald E. Newnham for a time extension of Hom
Occupation Permit to conduct a consulting industrial engineering
office in his home at 1509 Monticello Court be approved subject t
the Recommendations of the Planning Department. On motion of
Councilman Hartzell, seconded by Councilman Martinez, this recom-
mendation was adopted by the City Council.
5. Lot Split No. 353 Alice M. Ramo Time Extension
That a time extension of one year be granted for Lot Split No.
354, to July 19, 1967. On motion of Councilman Cummings,
seconded by Councilman Martinez, the recommendation of the
Planning Department was adopted by the City Council .
Planning Director Schindler brought to Council attention the
differences in uses permitted within identical zoning districts
of the City of Redlands and the County, and pointed out the
necessity of close study and attention to any zoning established
for the areas adjacent to the City which would be considered in
the "Zone of Influence. "
�TIONS AND PETITIONS
Manager Merritt brought to Council a request from the Buin Corpora-
tion for time extension of Conditional Use Permit No. 106 (Ford
Street and Redlands Boulevard) . On motion of Councilman Cummings,
seconded by Councilman Martinez, this request was tabled to July 19,
1966, to allow review by the Planning Department.
Manager Merritt also informed the Council of the receipt of two appli -
cations for alcoholic beverage licenses - one at Redlands Golf and
Tennis Association and the other at La Hacienda Restaurant..- 1570 Nortb
Orange Street.
:CATIONS
Councilman DeMirjyn presented a report of a soil analysis made of the
Newhall area with the recommendation that such a study be authorized
for the City of Redlands. Following Council discussion, the City
Study Manager and Planning Director were requested to study this recommen-
dation and submit a report concerning costs and staff time required
in the completion of this study.
Mayor Burroughs read a letter from Mr. G. E. Berresford, Manager of
the Redlands office of Southern California Gas Company, commending a
representative of the Redlands Fire Department for the very efficient
thorough and courteous manner in which he conducted his inspection of
their new offices .
Councilman DeMirjyn stated that, in touring the various operations of
the City - the Water, Disposal, Park and Police Departments - he was
very much impressed with the organization and management of these
departments, and believed that such tours would be of great benefit
to the public, thereby creating a better understanding between the
people of Redlands and City Government,
Mayor Burroughs read a letter from Mr. Harry T. Hertz, resigning his
position on the Traffic Commission due to his departure from the com-
)intmen,t munity. Mayor Burroughs presented the name of Mr. James Roberts, the
-affic newly appointed Manager of the local Automobile Club office to re-
aission place Mr. Hertz. On motion of Councilman Martinez, seconded by
Councilman Hartzell, the appointment of Mr. James Roberts was unani-
mously approved for the balance of Mr. Hertz! term. Mr. Cummings re-

Bid Call The City Clerk was authorized to advertise for bids on Select Sti

Mr. Gene Hernandez, 1211 Ohio Street, Director of the Teen Opport
Post, addressed Council concerning the use of the old Hall of Jus
Teen Council explained to Mr. Hernandez that this building may be cons

space by the Parking Place Commissioners; that the Board of Parki
Place Commissioners has complete authority for allowing use of th
building and that a request in writing should be directed by Mr.
Hernandez to the Board, outlining his desires and needs.
Bills and salaries were ordered paid as approved by the Finance C
mittee.
There being no further business demanding attention at this time,
motion, the Council adjourned at 8: 15 P.M.
