On motion of Councilman Martinez, seconded by Councilman Hartzell, this recommendation was adopted by the Council. XIONS ,AND PETITIONS City Manager Merritt presented a petition, signed by the residents of Roosevelt Road .between. Cypress Avenue and the High School concerning rc the existing traffic situation on that street. At this time the Iligh e .eft School parking lot exits totally into this street causing not"se, con-. gesti.on, litter and potential accidents . Manager Merritt pointed out that with the completion of Fern Street. Mall ars exit again will. be available in that area.. He stated that the Traffic Commission will study this entire situation at its next meeting. ` Manager Merritt also reported that a 'thorough study by the Public Works Department and. the Police is being made on Ramona Drive between Highl_and;; r and Crescent .Avenues, as was requested at the last meeting by the resi- dents from that area. CATIONS Manager Merritt notified Council of receipt of a letter from the Execu- tive ecu Live Director of SCAG, indicating approval of the Prospect Park applica- : tion for federal. assistance. Mayor Burroughs read a letter from Supervisor Daniel_ D. Mikese:ll, re- questing adoption of a Proclamation honoring the united states Air Foa:ce and proclaiming September 18, 1-966, as "Air Force Pay. " Noting the merit of this request, Council elected to reverse their usual procedure„. and on motion of Councilman Hartzell, seconded by Councilman Martinez, I. the following proclamation is to be executed with the Mayor authorized to sign. P R 0 C' L A M A 'i” 1 0 N "AIR FORCE DAY" September 18, 1966 WHEREAS, the United States Air Force was created on Septetrtaer 18, 1947 ; and WHEREAS, since that time, the awesome military acaight of the ,Air Force has served to deter all potential aggressor nations, and has in -— ---— -ro——.- ————— ri7T T'M"Y"a T''Pt 11T f"l T:'o At this time, Council considered the request for final., approval of Split No. 353 by Mrs . Alice Romo, which was tabled from the meetir LLL Split August 2, 1966. After very lengthy Council discussion, reconunendE 353 from the Manning and Public Works Departments and statements frorr Roraao joining property owners to the effect that they will participate i i.ng a 17-foot-wide strip, Councilman Hartzell made this inotion: '1 Split No. 353 be given final_ approval., subject to the following- 'that the street right-of-way can Carob be ,paved to 17 feet only; (2 the north side of Carob Street be pasted "No Parking! " and. (3) thF_ condition is granted on the basis of the modification of street w1 from 36 feet: to 30 feet.., which was done by Council on June 21., 10E is not considered a variance to be used as a basis for further rec of street paving widths . This resolution was adopted on motion of Councilmar Tani rate ze.11, seconded by Councilman Martinez . Resolution No. 2541, a resolution of the City Council of the City Resolution lands calling a special municipal election for the purpose of siabaa No. 2541 to the qualified voters a proposition for the issuance of water rE Water Bond bonds by .the City was adopted on motion of Councilman Hartzell, sE Election by Councilman Martinez. Roy Anderson and Mariar Anderson Anderson to the City of Redlands was accepted and. the City Manage thorized to execute the Certificate of Acceptance.
