Minutes of the Council meeting of August 16, 1966, were approved as sub_ mitted. HEARINGS This being the time and place advertised for a public hearing on Resolu-- ' tion No. 2537, a resolution of the City Council. of the City of Redlands Aon declaring intention to close a portion of Sunnyside Avenue, Mayor ?5_a7 56 Burroughs at this time declared the meeting open as a public hearing for , aide any protests or comments relative to this resolution. Resolution No. 2546, a resolution of the City of Redlands ordering the work on the above street Closure was unanimously adopted on motion of Councilman DeMirjyn, sec- onded by Councilman Hartzell . Offices- of the Regional, Water Quality Control Board, made a preser taition before the members of the City Council regarding a, proposec ordinance regulating the flow of certain wastes into a city ' s sewerage system. Ile briefly outlined the background of the pro- posed ordinance which was the result of studies made by the Board of the water pollution problem confronting the cities in this are,; "Thea consensus of the Board, after the study wars made, was that the best solution would, be to develop a common ordinance, with slight variations for each city, that would be acceptable to all cities concerned. Mayor Burroughs complimented Mr. Rueermann for his fine presentation. Following considerable discussion, Councilman tlartzel:l moved that the staff be requested to study the need for such an ordinance, consult various interested and affected organi- zations and report its findings to the Council, at a later date Motion seconded by Councilman DeMirjyn and carried. PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION 1. R.P.C. No. 263 - Amendment: No. 71 to rain Qrdinance No. 1,000 That. R.P.C. No. 263, amending Zoning ordinance No. 1.000, Secti Redlands `T'ra tic Ordinance: To establish a "No Parking" zone on the east and westsides of Church Street from Citrus .venue to Redlands Boulevard. On motion of Councilman Hartzell, seconded by Councilman Martinez, the above recommendations were approved. and Resolution No. 2544, establish- ing these changes was unanimously adopted by the City Council_ . Councilman Cummings requests that the Traffic Commission investigate the problem of cars skidding onto private property at the corner of Ford and Fifth Avenue. This skidding is reportedly due to the accumulation of sand and water in the street. 7CAT IONS Manager Merritt brought to Council attention the transfer of ownership of the alcoholic beverage license for Shakey" s Pizza Parlor, 836 West Colton Avenue. Mayor Burroughs read a letter from the Community Action Group, express- ing appreciation of the attitude and efforts of the Counciil.. and City Manager in regard to the activities of this group. ONAGER City Manager Merritt presented Resolution No. 2552, a proposed resolu- tion relating to a change of policy concerning "outside city water on- ition nections . Lowry presented. Water Superintendent Lowry also presented. Resolution No. 2551, a resol._u— tion of the City of Redlands relating to rates and charges of the Water Department.
