PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATIONS As considered by the City Council at a regular meeting thereof hel October 4, 1966, at 3: 00 P.M. Present: Councilmen Martinez, Cummings, DeMirjyn, vice-Mayor hart. Attorney Carl Davis Absent, Mayor Burroughs l.. Variance No. 1.32 - Robert L . McNally That the request of Robert L. McNally for a variance to continue t i.ise an existing converted garage as a part of the residence withol:. providing two covel,redparking spaces on the property as required i Ordinance No. 1000 for property located at 71.0 Nottingham Drive be denied due to the fact that the necessary qualifications for grant* ing of a variance do not:: exist. At this time, Mr. McNally addressed Council stating that, rather t the variance as presented. to Planning Commission, he would like tc request a "moratorium" on the requirement to provide two covered parking spaces for a period of five years, in order that he might amortize his investment. Following discussion in detail concernir the cost, the time invested., the appearance, and that the problem had arisen due to unawareness of the City ordinances, each Council man eRpressed regret at the loss and inconvenience to Mr. McNally. Vice-Mayor Hartzellpointed out the responsibility of the Council. to uphold all city~ ordinances in order to protect all, citizens. Nickerson for permission to split property Located at 1.01 West Sunset Drive - Coot Split No. 370 be approved subject to the recommendations of all departments as contained in Planning Commission minutes dated Septerliber 31, 1966. Can motion of Councilman Cummings, seconded by Councilman Martinez, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was adopted by the City Council. Following the Planning ,agenda, Councilman DeMirjyn read a report can the proposed San Bernardino-Redlands airport. Report can file in office of the City Clerk. CATIONS City Manager Merritt brought to Council attention notice of application for alcoholic beverage license for Fed Mart for off-site sale of beer and wine. Councilman DeMirjyn brought to Council attention a letter he had re- ceived from residents on Ilibiscus Street between Cypress and Pal_M Avenues, complaining of noise on the Sage property prior to 6:00 A�M. City Manager Merritt reportedthat this complaint had been brought to him ' in July; that the problem had been discussed with Sage representatives and efforts had been made to rectify this situation. Following Council discussion, the matter was referred to the City Manager for further action i by Councilman DeMirjyn and carried. Resolution No. 2556, a resolution of the City of Redlands declarin Resolution tion to vacate a portion of Cypress and Terracina avenues and. sett No. 2556 public hearing on such vacation for November 1, 1966, at 7 : 00 P.M. CITY MANAGER City Manager Merritt reviewed two grant deeds to the City from the Ratification byterian Church and the sale of the Cajon Street. Parking Lot to th Grant Deeds byterian Church. These are in connection with the rebuilding of t and Sale church and the widening of Vine Street adjacent to City Hall .
