Councilman DeMrr jyn presented each acting officer with a personal
plate as a keepsake of this day.
COMMUNICATIONS
Margie Johnson, peaking for Water Superintendent Lowry, invited
students, the Council and the public: to open house: at the Henry T
Water Treatmrent. Plant being held today between 2: 00 .and 8: 00 o ` cl
Patty Woge n, speaking for Postmaster Stanton, presented the prohl
deep hole which has appeared at the rear of private property. Th
ci l_ discussed the problem and concluded that as it was on private
ert y this would he ra matter for the owner ' s correction.

At this time Councilmen Capen and Ghorml.ey were excused by Mayor Quick. i
Melissa Hartzell, speaking :For the Building and Safety Department,
i.nance presented for adoption. Ordinance No. 1366, an ordinance of the City of
1366 Redlands amending Ordinance No. 1342, which regulates signs in the City
of Redlands . This amendment would exemptas

signs posted by owners on private property from licensing. Following
discussion, the ordinance was given first:: reading of the title and laid
over, with second reading set :For the Council meeting of May ✓, 1968

at Deed On motion of Councilman Cummings, seconded by Councilman Martinez, a

grant deed from the Gladia Corporation. for street and. galley right-of-
way was accepted., with the City Manager authorised to execute the c:erti4
ficate of acceptance on behalf of the City.

Sidney Strickland, spearing for the City Manager, announced the refund
afund to the City of $20, 500 :From State Compensation Insurance, due to as l.owe.xa
accident rate among the employees, and congratulated the employees for:
their safety program.
On motion of Councilman Cummings, seconded. by Councilman Martinez,

Council authorization was given for transfer of $2, 500 from the General

Fund to the Special Aviation Fund to match the State grant: which has

Sidney Strickland presented a grant deed from the University of Rediaan ts.

City, the School District and the University. On motion of Councilman
Martinez, seconded by Councilman Cummings , Council accepted the grant
deed and authorized the City Manager to execute the certificate of:
acceptance on behalf of the City.
In closing the meeting Mayor Burroughs congratulated the ircaung people oil
their participation 1.n this program, stressed the need for continuing
their education, and wished them success in their future, endeavors.
Acting Mayor Dave Quick then adjourned the meeting to the next regular
Council_ meeting, May 7, 1968.
