PRESENT Waldo F . Burroughs, Mayor Norman N. Martinez, Vice Mayor Charles G. DeMirjyn, Councilman Ralph P. Merritt, Jr. , City Manager Michael R. Quinn, Deputy City Attorney Peggy A. Moseley, City Clerk Malcolm Schwartz, Redlands Daily Facts Chuck Palmer, San Bernardino Sun ABSENT Jack B. Cummings, Councilman Chresten M. Knudsen, Councilman The meeting was opened with the pledge of allegiance, followed by invocation by Reverend Harold R. Hudspeth of Impact, United Presby, Church. The minutes of the Council meeting of August 6, 1968 were approved submitted. Mr. Zafon Hartman introduced Mr . Ross Collins who will replace him secretary of the Downtown Redlands Association. Mayor Burroughs t] Mr . Hartman for his hard work in behalf of the City, and wished hii in his retirement. PUBLIC HEARINGS This being the time and place set for public hearing on Ordinance 1 1372, an ordinance of the City of Redlands adopting a zone classif: for Annexation No. 38, Mayor Burroughs at this time declared the m4 Ordinance open as a public hearing of any protests or comment relative to the No. 1372 ordinance. None being forthcoming, the public hearing was declare( Zoning closed and ordinance No. 1372 was adopted on motion of Councilman Annex. No. 38 DeMirjyn, seconded by Councilman Martinez, with waiver of the read: full, by the following roll call vote: AYES : Councilmen Martinez, DeMirjyn, Mayor Burroughs NOES: None ABSENT: Councilmen Cummings, Knudsen Public hearing was also scheduled for this time and place on Ordini Ordinance No. 1373, an ordinance of the City of Redlands establishing zoning No. 1373 approximately 520 acres of land known as Marigold Farms . The City has been requested to provide financial assistance in the of $300.00 to support the celebration of Mexican Independence Day, Celebration will be celebrated on September 14th this year. As this official Mexican Independence would demonstrate to the Redlands citizens of Mexican-American des( Day that the City does indeed appreciate their contribution to the bui' the community, Councilman DeMirjyn moved that this amount be furni., from the General Fund unbudgeted surplus . Bills and salaries were ordered paid as approved by the Finance Cor Mr. Danny Martinez addressed Council at this time, thanking Council the street lights recently installed on Baldwin Avenue on a partic� basis between the property owners and the City.
