Saffell of the Church of Religious Science. The minutes of the Council meeting of August 20, 1968 were approved as submitted. IEARINGS As this was the time scheduled in Resolutions Nos . 2698 and 2699 for public hearing on Annexations No. 36 and No . 37, Mayor Burroughs opened the meeting as a public hearing for comments or questions concerning the ill ations annexation of these properties . City Manager Merritt reported a communi- 36 cation from the Chapman -family giving approval of the annexations and 37 requesting that the City proceed. There being no comment from the -floor, the public hearing was declared closed and Resolutions Nos. 2698 and 2699 were unanimously approved on motion of Councilman Cummings , seconded by ince Councilman Knudsen. Ordinance No. 1376, an ordinance of the City Council 2376 approving the annexation to the City of Redlands of this uninhabited territory, was introduced, given first reading of the title, and laid over under the rules with public hearing set for the council meeting of September 17 , 1968. Public hearing was scheduled at this time on ordinance No. 1376, an ordinance of the City of Redlands establishing regulations and procedures for the removal of overhead utility facilities and the installation of ince underground facilities in underground utility districts . At this time 375 Mayor Burroughs declared the meeting open as a public hearing of any com- round ments or questions relative to this ordinance. Following Council.. discussion, Councilman NeaMi.r_ yn that the requirement for bonds be removed and that an agreement, i amount of $2, 000, he signed for this proposed construction, with a limit of 25 years beginning in 1.9.59. The Council joined in thanking Mr . Schwartz for his fine work. Councilman DeMirjyn reported on a county ordinance that is being devel- oped by Agricultural_ Commissioner Pad' Schneider relating to removal, of dead orange groves as an economic detriment to the surrounding land, and : requested that the City Council forward a resolution to the Board of Supervisors in support of this ordinance. Manager Merritt brought notice that a contract has been let for: demoli- tion of the Voss property on Redlands Boulevard, and stated that the barbershop and.
