PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATIONS
1. Lot Split No. 402 - Miriam C. Burley
That the request of Miriam C. Burley for permission to split proper
located at the northeast corner of Pacific Street and Carob Street
tended - Lot Split No. 402 - be approved subject to the recommenda�
of all departments as contained in Planning Commission minutes dati
August 27, 1968. on motion of Councilman DeMirjyn, seconded by Coi
man Cummings , the recommendation of the Planning Commission was adi
by the City Council.
2. Request - El Carmelo Retreat - Re Street Lighting Requirements
Manager Merritt read a letter from Father David Costello requestini
relief from street lighting requirements on property fronting High.
Avenue, C.R.A. 234. Director of Public Works Shone explained that
would involve installation of three or four lighting standards in
area which will remain in orange groves, and on which the setback
grading elevation are presently unknown. On motion of Councilman
Cummings, seconded by Councilman DeMirjyn, approval was given for
signing of the Improvement ordinance Agreement for installation of
lights, until such time as the City so requests.
COMMUNICATIONS
Manager Merritt presented a letter from Attorney Rex Cranmer requei
relief from two $1, 000 bonds posted by Mr. Fritz Zeiner as a requL
of the City in 1959 and 1965 for contemplated improvement at Judsoi
and the Zanja. Following Council discussion, Councilman DeMirjyn i
that the requirement for bonds be removed and that, an agreement, ii
amount of $2, 000, be signed for this proposed construction, with a
limit of 25 years beginning in 1959. Motion seconded by Councilmai
Knudsen and carried.
City Manager Merritt read a letter from James L. Christensen, press
of the Foothill Freeway Association, requesting support of the Cit,
Redlands in the effort to hasten the completion of the Foothill Fri
Foothill from its present easterly terminus in San Dimas to its intersectio)
Freeway the Devore freeway, and submitting a suggested resolution for adop�
the Council. Following lengthy Council discussion of the Foothill
way, as related to Redlands, it was decided to adopt this proposed
tion, with the addition thereto of a section stating that the City
Redlands is still vitally concerned with the early construction of
Resolution Tennessee Street Freeway.
