TRAFFIC RECOMMENDATIONS
Councilman Knudsen brought to Council_ attention a traffic problem
incl at Citrus Avenue and. Fifth Street where car's attempt to make a

Cummings expressed appreciation of the professionalism of this proposal

Councilman Cummings congratulated Councilman DeMirjyn on the success of
the recent celebration of Mexican Independence Day with the participation ::

in this celebration, and emphasized the courtesy displayed by the store

Manager Merritt brought a request from the league of California Cities
that, the Council designate a voting delegate :for the forthcoming Teague
meeting in October . on motion of Councilman Cummings , seconded by
Councilman DeMirjyn, the Mayor_ was authorized to vote for the City and
the Vice Mayor, as his alternate.
Manager Merritt brought notice that the Public Utilities Commission:
hearing can the Southern California Edison Company' s request for an in-
crease in rates will be held. September 23, 1968 at 1.0:00 A.M. in the
State Office Building in Los Angeles .
Mr . Merritt also brought notice of a time extension granted, by the LPFC
to the City regarding Annexation No. 30. This extension is to April 25,
1969.

At this time City Manager Merritt requested authorization from the
cil for the expenditure of $17 , 000 already budgeted to part icipate
matching funds project with funds from the California aeronautics
Airport s.i.on for the purpose of promoting flight safety at the airport . T

of the Disposal Department packer-trucks which rolled off of 8ierr
Drive when the brakes failed to hold. As it is a total loss, he r
