The minutes of the regular meeting of February 4, 1969 were approve submitted. BIDS The following bids for a building shell and slab for the Fifth Aver pump station were opened and publicly declared at 10:00 A.M. this in the office of the City Clerk: James Harber Colton, California $12, 564.00 Bid Award Jaska Construction Company Building Pomona, California $10,812.00 Shell & Lowell Thompson Construction Slab Crestline, California $10, 835.00 Following study, it is the recommendation of the Department of Pub] Works that award be made to the Jaska Construction Company, whose I the amount of $10,812.00 was the lowest submitted and meets all qui cations . Following discussion, on motion of Councilman Martinez, i onded by Councilman Cummings, the award was made unanimously to the Construction Company. ORAL PETITIONS Mr. William Simader, president of the Senior Citizens Organization meets at the YWCA, addressed Council with a request for assistance the severe transportation problem facing many elderly citizens in Redlands . Following discussion, Councilman DeMirjyn outlined an offer by Mr. Gish, who maintains the local ambulance service, to provide a three months ' trial mini-bus service. Councilman Cummings reported that at the recent Brotherhood dinner, Human Relations Commission and/or Urban Coalition were discussed. stated that the smaller cities are having more success with Urban C tion, which would assist with job locating, low income housing, and Urban munity attitudes . Following Council discussion of the over-all prc Coalition Mayor Burroughs appointed Councilman Cummings and Councilman Knudse look into the exact need for such a coalition in Redlands , recommer leadership and membership for such a group, and prepare a presentat representatives from the total community. Councilman Knudsen reported a TASC meeting February 20 in Los Angel which he will be unable to attend. NEW BUSINESS Resolution Resolution No. 2734, authorizing the execution of a Right-of-Entry No. 2734 license with the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad, and author Right-of- the Mayor and City Clerk to sign, was approved on motion of Council Entry DeMirjyn, seconded by Councilman Cummings .
