ABSENT None
The meeting was opened with the pledge of allegiance, followed by
invocation by Reverend Eleanor M. Saffell of the Church of Religioi
Science.
The minutes of the regular meeting of December 2 and the adjourned
lar meeting of December 9 were approved as submitted.
BIDS Bids for asphaltic paving material and equipment rental for the yet

City Manager Merritt introduced Dr. Manuel Medina, instructor at Johnston

City Manager Merritt introduced Mr. Chester E. Anderson, of the State
Department of Public Health, who presented to Mayor Burroughs a new
r water supply permit issued by the State Department of Public Health to
ly the City of Redlands. Mr.. Anderson commended Water Superintendent Lowry
it for recognition of the need for and continuing efforts to furnish good
water to the City of Redlands . The City of Redlands water system has
been continuously licensed since 1915; and this change in license was
necessitated by the new treatment plant which updated the water service.
ATIONS AND PETITIONS
Mr. Don Turpin, of 1.855 Industrial Park Avenue, Redlands, addressed
Council with a request for deletion of the requirement to install street
lights as specified in Conditional Use Permit No. 213 for the reason that

sion, Councilman Martinez moved that the request be denied and that the
lighting requirements of Conditional Use Permit No. 213 be complied with.
Motion seconded by Councilman Knudsen and carried by the following roll
call vote;
AYES: Councilmen Martinez, DeMirjyn, Knudsen, Mayor Burroughs
NOES:. Councilman Cummings
ABSENT: None
Mr. Leon Armantrout, architect for the new Methodist Church at the corner
of Cajon Street and Olive Avenue, addressed. Council with a request for
permission to install an exposed aggregate concrete sidewalk on Olive
Avenue adjacent to the Methodist Church property as this is the material
being used on either side of the sidewalk and continuity of finish is
walk desirable. Mr. Armantrout elaborated on the value of this material .

the public sidewalk so that Council could view the finished product. Th
motion lost for lack of second. Councilman DeMirjyn then moved to deny
the request for permission to use aggregate over the city-owned sidewalk.
Councilman Martinez seconded the motion and it was carried by the follow-
ing roll call vote:.
AYES: Councilmen Martinez, DeMirjyn, Knudsen, Mayor Burroughs
NOES : Councilman Cummings - opposes procedure rather than concept

Transfer of Option "B" water stock (Freitas) was unanimously approved on
motion of Councilman DeMirivn, seconded by Councilman Cummings .

NEW BUSINESS
Ordinance No. 1403, an ordinance of the City of Redlands regulatinc
flow of certain wastes into the sewerage system, was given first ri

Attorney Allen Gresham of San Bernardino addressed Council in behal

received a copy of the ordinance and reviewed it.
City Manager Merritt presented a request from the School District t
the City furnish irrigation water for the purpose of landscaping pi

Bid Call The City Clerk was authorized to advertise for bids for widening Et
Widening Street from Redlands Boulevard to Brookside Avenue, on motion of Cc
Eureka St. man DeMirjyn, seconded by Councilman Martinez .
