Ordinance No. 1.403, an ordinance of the City of Redlands regulating the
flow of certain wastes into its sewerage system, was adopted on motion
of Councilman Curnmings, seconded by Councilman Knudsen, with waiver of

The San Bernardino County Flood Control District has requested that i oun
cil consider a precise alignment for the proposed Zanja flood contralti
channel , in order that the District may proceed with acquisition of
rights-of-way, Mr. W. A. Si.dler outlined in detail the area. involved and
the District ' s conclusions concerning the most feasible and reasonable
alignment for the channel. . Mr. Sidl.er also gave a brief history of the
past discussions of locations for channels through this area, :including
el
consideration in 1.902 of an alignment south of the railroad tracks .

:Mayor Burroughs stated that in twelve years on the Council. 'fie had 'heard
Hauch concerning location of a :flood control_ channel, but that this was
the nearest. Redlands had ever been to a solution. Mr. Sidler described
possible uses of the areas adjacent to the channel following construction,
and added that federal funds were available for landscaping. He stated
that when rights-of--way have been obtained, improvements may be made
gradually, and stressed that a wide channel need not be built at this
time. After Council_ discussion it was decided to devote a pox-tion of
the Council meeting can February 3 as a public hearing of this matter.
