PRESENT Jack B. Cummings, Mayor Charles G. DeMirjyn, Councilman Chresten M. Knudsen, Councilman Ellsworth E. Miller, Councilman Sam S . Sewall, Councilman John H. Wagner, Assistant to the City Manager Peggy A. Moseley, City Clerk ABSENT None This adjourned regular meeting of the City Council was called fi purpose of receiving a report from Mr. Gail Lynch of John Carol Engineers, whose firm is in the process of completing the plans specifications for the reconstruction of the sewer treatment ply Mr. Lynch reports that recently- completed percolation tests caui cern that the proposed percolation site of 40 acres may not be , quate to percolate all the effluent 100% of the time. Mr. Lyncl plained possible problems in detail and Council discussed the m, at length. The following alternative measures are recommended by John Caro'. Engineers in order to insure that discharge requirements can be at all times . 1. Do not provide a percolation area for disposal, and design complete river discharge. Provide additional tertiary trea� when, and as, required. 2. Construct the proposed percolation area, and purchase addit.- land on the bluff for additional percolation area. Land pu., would not be eligible for grant participation. 3. Construct the proposed percolation area, and provide pressu: filtration, at this time, to insure that a river discharge ( met. Purchase and/or lease additional land, as funds become available, for a complete land disposal policy. Following further elaboration by Mr. Lynch and Council discussi( Council concurred in the decision to authorize the procedure re( ded in Alternate 2, with the request that Alternate 3 be bid in to determine the cost of Alternate 3 . This motion of Councilmai Knudsen# seconded by Councilman Miller, was unanimously adopted, There being no further discussion, the Council adjourned on mot: Next regular meeting, July 18, 1972. ATTEST!
