RESOLUTION NO. 3455 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY OF REDLANDS ON THE 7TH DAY OF MARCH, 1978, DECLARING THE RESULTS THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW WHEREAS, a regular general municipal election was held and conducted City of Redlands, County of San Bernardino, State of California, on '. the 7th day of March, 1978, as required by law, and WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regularly given in time and manner as provided by law, that voting precincts were properly e� ed; that election officers were appointed and that in all respects s; tion was held and conducted and the votes cast thereat, received and vassed and the returns made and declared in time, form and manner as by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California f( holding of elections in cities, and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 3439 adopted the 7th day of Febri 1978, the City Clerk of the City of Redlands canvassed the returns o: election and has certified the results to this City Council, said re: are received, attached and made a part hereof as "Exhibit A. `« NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS, CALIFORNIA. RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS : SECTION 1. That there were twenty-three (23) voting precincts estab: for the purpose of holding said election consisting of consolidation,, regular election precincts in the City of Redlands as established fo: holding of state and county elections. SECTION 2 . That said regular general municipal election was held fo: purpose of electing the following officer of said City as required b, laws relating to cities in the State of California to wit :. Three Members of the City Council of said City for the full tern of four years . SECTION 3 . SECTION 5. The City Council does declare and determine that: Charles G. DeMirjyn was elected as .Member of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years ; Barbara Cram Riordan was elected as Member of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years ; and. Oddie J. Martinez, Jr. was elected as Member of the City Council of said. City for the full term of four years . SECTION 6 .. The City Clerk shall enter on the records of the City Council of said City, a statement of the result of said election, showing : (1) The whole number of votes cast in the city, (2) The names of the persons voted for ; (3) For what office each person was voted for; (4) The number of votes given at each precinct to each person; ( ) The number of votes given in the city to each person. SECTION 7 . That the City Clerk. shall .immediately make and deliver to each of such persons so elected a Certificate of Election signed by the City Clerk and duly authenticated; that the City Clerk shall also administer to each person elected, the oath of office prescribed in the State Constitution; of the State of California and shall have them subscribed thereto and file the same in the office of the City Clerk. Whereupon, each and all said per ° sons so elected shall be inducted into the respective office to which they have been elected. SECTION 8. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original Resolutions' of said City; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted. Speaking of Mr. DeMirjyn's long service can the Council and his dedicated availability as mayor for the past two years, Councilman Knudsen nominated anon Charles G. DeMirjyn for Mayor. Councilman Elliott then spoke of Mr . Martine ° E background and experience in the school system and nominated him for mayor. Mrs * Riordan moved the nominations be closed.. By written ballot, Oddie J. Martinez, Jr. was elected :payor for the City of Redlands for the coming two years . Mayor Martinez expressed thanks and appreciation to his wife, family, and supporters in the recent election, and stated that he is honored to be se- lected to serve as mayor. The next order of business was the election of a vice mayor for the coming two years. Mr. DeMirjyn placed the name of Chresten M. Knudsen ,in nomination and stressed the thousands of dollars he has saved the City by his engineer- ing knowledge. Mr . Martinez spoke of Marren R. Elliott ' s long tenure as a city employee and placed his name in nomination. The nominations were then closed. By written ballot, Chresten M. Knudsen was elected vice mayor for the coming two years. Mr . Knudsen reaffirmed his desire to serve the citizens of Redlands , Mrs . Riordan stated that she was looking forward to four good years and would. be out in the community listening to the citizens as she had promised during her campaign. Mr. DeMirjyn stated that he would continue to work with the same enthusiasm and diligence that he has devoted for the past twelve years. Mr. Elliott congratulated Mr . Martinez and Mr. Knudsen, expressed pleasure with the past two years, and pledged to work cooperatively during the next two years , In closing the meeting, Mayor Martinez called for harmony and cooperation and urged the citizens to make public their concerns .
