The meeting was opened with the pledge of allegiance, followed by the invo—
cation by Lt. Bruce Nelson of the Salvation Army.
The minutes of the regular meeting of January 2, 1979, were approved as
submitted.
Vice Mayor Knudsen called to the podium two recently retired City employees;,
`Pony Peru and Wendell Kooy. vice Mayor Knudsen stated that Tony Peru
came to work for the City in March, 1958, at the Cemetery and had worked
until December 1978. He thanked Mr. Peru for his diligent service to the

TITIONS FROM THE FLOOR
Dr. Kenneth Rath of 1720 Sarrita Drive addressed the Council stating that
the Proposition "R" Implementation Committee would be well served by having;
a member of the County Planning Commission on that committee. He mentioned
a letter from the County regarding this subject and stated that if the City,
intends to have cooperation in the future with the County, it would be well
ta- to include a member on this present. committee. On motion of Councilman
e DeMirjyn, seconded by Councilman Elliott, Mr. Bill Semans, Chairman of the
San Bernardino County Planning Commission, was appointed as an ex officio
member of the "R" Implementation Committee by AYE votes of all present,.
Community Development Director Schindler was requested to notify Mr. Semans,
of this Council action.

Historic and Scenic Preservation Commission - Councilman Elliott re
that at the Thursday meeting of the Historic and Scenic Preservatio

and Walt Wornardt, vice chairman.
Councilman Elliott also reported that Dr. Larry Burgess researched
name "Reservoir Road" because Council had a request to change this
