Martinez, Jr. , Councilman The meeting was opened with the pledye of allegiance. The regular meetinyi z� of the City Council on April 19, 1983, was adjourned to this time and lace in order to hold this meeting for the purpose of permitting RedlandS� r �jli+rSr�i; ' Civics I�ay P 9 P P P g High School students to take over the functions of the various elected Q officials and departments of the City government as participation in i�ttr lr'S�t;'t Civics Day. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Roth. t1 ,{ rti�r;r r ri Acting City Clerk Greg Staviski administered the Oaths of Office to the five actin councilmembers. Scott Blakenship and Christi Olson were g P nominated for the office of Mayor and by secret ballot, Scott Blakenship �rrt}�fr was elected Mayor. No Council action was required. z COMMU14ICATIONS On motion of Acting Councilmember Olson, seconded by Action Councilmember Franchise Callardo, the Southern California Gas Company franchise payment in the Payments amount of $70,876.98, and the Southern California Edison Company franchise r payment in the amount of $79,109.03 were accepted by the City Council. i CITY MANAGER A report from the Fire Department for the first quarter of the. Paramedic , Program was presented by Acting Fire Chief Peter J. Celano. Acting Councilmember Mason inquired if the cost of the program is within the t I>aramed.c funds provided by the property tax approved by the voters and the Fire Report , Chief replied it was. In response to the inquiry from Acting Council- Chief member Olson, the Fire Chief pointed out that the report shows that the engine is required on a run quite often. No Council action was required. Following a brief discussion, Acting Councilmember Olson moved to approve an additional appropriation in the amount of $1,800.00 to purchase Funds a new furnace for the City-awned Property at 126 Garden Hill since the Furnace existing furnace is 40 years old and further repairs are not possible. Motion seconded by Acting Councilmember Russo are, carried unanimously. On motion of Acting Councilmember Olson, seconded by Acting Councilmember _ Outside Callardo, Ludwig Engineering was granted outside the City water and sewer Water and Sewer service for 37 mobile home spaces in Tract No. 11319 located southeast - of Grafton and Madeira Avenues in Mehtone. r„ Council briefly questioned the following department heads: Acting Police Chief Michael D. Gains, Acting Treasurer John Mace, Acting Parks and =d Cemetary Director Laura Mihld, Acting Sanitation Director Larry Gonzales, ff Acting Marshall Randy Roberts, Acting Library Director. Mike Racosky, and l Acting City Clerk Greg Stavisky. There being no further business, Council adjourned at 2:10 P.M.
