PRESENT Carole Beswick, Mayor _ Barbara C. Wormser, Mayor Pro Tem Charles C. DeMirjyn, Councilmember William E. Cunningham, Councilmember Swen Larson, Councilmember John E. Holmes, City Manager Lorrie Poyzer, City Clerk Howard A. Ellis, The Sun ABSENT None The regular meeting of March 7, 1989, was adjourned to this time and place in order to hold this meeting for the purpose of permitting Redlands High School students to take over the functions of the various elected officials and departments of City Government in participation of the Annual Civics Day. A meeting of the Redlands Unified School District's Board of Education was held at 1:30 P.M. Acting Superintendent of Schools Amy Ryder presented several reports for consideration to Acting School Board Members Haether Choi, Steve Henry, Mark Arredondo, Kendra Kiilpatrick, and Lacey Roosenberg. The adjourned regular meeting of the City Council was called to order at 2:05 P.M. with an invocation by Mayor Beswick followed by the pledge of allegiance. Election.. Following an election for Acting Mayor and Mayor 'Pro Tem, the following students were seated at the Council dial Steve Lutz, Acting Mayor Kara Maupin, Acting Mayor Pro Tem Jennifer Michael, Acting Councilmember Jauquin Solis, Acting Councilmember Christy Barrett, Acting Councilmember Proclamation A proclamation declaring the week of March 24-30, 1989, as National Community Development Week was presented to Acting Community Development Director Michael Schwartz. Reports Acting City Engineer Charlie Prograce presented the monthly contract monitoring reports for projects currently being administered by the Engineering Services Department, Acting Chief Building Official Louisa Cornell presented a building permit update status report indicating that as of March 9, 1989, 60 building permits have been issued for v>, dwelling units for this calendar year. s�.x Acting Municipal Utilities Director Marlise Martin presented a report regarding the Utilities Department's major construction projects scheduled for 1989 and plans for local activities during the statewide Water Awareness Week from May 1-7, 1989. Acting Community Services Director Francesca DiAmico presented information relating to the proposed use of grant funds to be received from the State of California Parks and Recreation Department. 074 Also participating in this observance of Civics Day were Acting City Manager Matt Denham, Acting Cemetery Supervisor Dawn James, Acting City Treasurer Boyd Nies, a Acting Finance Director Jennifer Winn, Acting Fire Chief Sally DeMaggio, Acting Library Director Kristen Graves, Acting Police Chief Chris Van Soest, Acting Redevelopment Director John Sim, Acting Solid Waste Management Superintendent Jennifer Fairfield, Acting Street Maintenance Superintendent Lalima Hoq, and Acting Country Supervisor for the Third District Tony Barile. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 2:40 P.M. to an adjourned regular meeting to be held on March 21, 1989, at 9:00 A.M. in the Council Chambers.
